Operating Parameters of Typical HF US Amateur Stations
Amateur stations operating in the HF range usually have a receiver noise floor of approximately -140 dBm in a 500-Hz bandwidth.
While some amateur communication enjoys a significant signal-to-noise margin, it is not uncommon for amateurs to be working within a few dB of the noise floor.
US amateur stations are licensed to use up to 1500 watts PEP RF output power on most bands (250 watts on 10.1 to 10.15 MHz).

Watching the US Amateur played at the esteemed Merion Golf Club East Course, it dawned upon me that the event is long gone as one of golf’s major tournaments.
If anything, it was the junior phenom, three-time US Junior Champion, Tiger Woods, who brought the U.S. Amateur back some attention by becoming the first male to win three straight years, and incredible 18 straight match wins.
He suggests the demise of the Amateur came in the 1940s and 1950s, when Ben Hogan, Sam Snead and Byron Nelson were the popular forces in golf.

Operating Parameters of Typical HF US Amateur Stations
Actual field strength of radiated emissions levels were not measured, but modern amateur radio equipment was used in a mobile HF station to determine if any noticeable increase of noise level or harmful interference could be observed in neighborhoods with significant installed VDSL service.
The amateur station used for these tests was not very sensitive and probably represents the minimum station performance to be expected in routine operation.
A paper outlining the typical parameters of HF amateur stations was prepared by ARRL and presented in 1996 to T1E1.4.

The US Women's Open was such a hit at The Orchards in July that the owners of the course wasted little time in extending an invitation to the USGA to hold another one, though that championship has venues assigned through 2008 (including Newport CC in Rhode Island in 2006).
Alas, times have changed and the US Open is such a TV spectacle and corporate event that there is reason to believe it won't work anymore -- not because the course isn't worthy (it certainly is) and not because club officials don't have the ingenuity (they pulled off the 1999 Ryder Cup brilliantly).
No, if the 2013 US Open doesn't come off at TCC it will be because too much infrastructure is needed and these same club officials are leery of putting the club and its members through another ordeal on the scale of the 1999 Ryder Cup.
