 End of U.S. Highway 45
US 45 was an original 1926 route, although its north end was in the Chicago area at the time (various maps seem to indicate the actual terminus switched a few times during those early years).
In 1934 the north end of US 45 was extended to its present terminus in Ontonagon, on Lake Superior in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
The south end of US 45 has always been in Mobile AL, although it seems likely that the exact location of the terminus was originally downtown.
