Shooting a hole in efforts to move an energy bill this week, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) yesterday said he is preparing for "one last shot" at a comprehensive energy bill to be worked on early in the next congressional session, which begins in January.
Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham's resignation will not alter the Republican strategy headed into either the lame-duck congressional session or next year's anticipated energy bill debate, a spokeswoman for Senate Energy Committee Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) said yesterday.
Congress' inclusion of the $28.79 billion fiscal year 2005 Energy and Water Development appropriations bill in the massive omnibus spending legislation passed over the weekend brought to an end furious haggling over how to fund the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.
