UFO are an English rock band that was formed in 1969.
UFO became a transitional band between early hard rock and heavy metal and what came as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
UFO's influence was strongly felt in the '80s metal scene and they have been cited as a primary influence of Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth among others.

Heavy rock/metal band UFO started life in 1969 when aspiring drummer Andy Parker joined forces with vocalist Phil Mogg, bass player Pete Way and guitarist Mick Bolton to form a new rock band called Hocus Pocus.
They subsequently re-christened the band UFO and released 3 albums for a small record label Beacon during 1971.
Two years later however the band was re-formed by frontman Phil Mogg, along with Paul Raymond, Paul Gray, former Magnum drummer Jim Simpson, and Japanese guitarist Atomic Tommy M. The new line-up failed to recapture former glories however, and UFO once again broke up towards the end of the decade.

The band rocks hard on this one, and their stylings here are sure to impress any fan.
Strange as it might seem the band themselves seems to disagree since they never chose to include the songs from Obsession on their different live-releases (apart from "Only you can rock me" which seems to me to be the weakest song on the album).
UFO along with a few other bands (Judas Priest and Motorhead) helped bridge the gap between the rock-eras of the early seventies and NWOBHM and while not exactly essential rockhistory they did play an important role in maintaining the edges of rock through a difficult period with less commercial interest.
