| | UGC 111R: World Civilizations I, Beginnings to 1500 (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09) |
 | | With a new millenium underway, now is a good time to reflect on the various civilizations that have existed throughout other millennia all over the globe. |
 | | World Civilizations I (UGC 111) provides this opportunity in that we will look back at the millennia BCE up to 1500 CE to examine cultures in China, India, Africa, South and North America and the usual basis for Western society: the Mediterranean World, the Near East, and Europe. |
 | | This course is wide-ranging in both time and place, and so we will have to limit ourselves to snapshot moments of each civilization as a basis for broad social and historical trends. |
