While the musical beat from these hit tunes remained much the same, the lyrics always fell pray to his wacky sense of humor.
UHF is presented on a double-sided disc sporting both a full frame 4:3 version as well as the original theatrical 1.85:1 version.
UHF has the reputation of being somewhat of a cult favorite and surprisingly the film still holds up rather well - despite having a lot of pop culture references to the music and films of the 80’s.

Ultra high frequency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
UHF and VHF are the most common frequency bands for television.
Modern mobile phones also transmit and receive within the UHF spectrum, and UHF is widely used for two-way radio communication (usually using narrowband frequency modulation, but digital services are on the rise) by both public service agencies and the general public.
UHF is also widely used in two-way radio systems and cordless phones due to the fact that since UHF signals essentially travel over line-of-sight distances, distant transmissions cannot travel far enough to interfere with local transmissions.

But through a video release by Orion afterwards, this was immediately picked up by Al’s hardcore fans and made its way to cult status until the film suffered a depression when Orion declared bankruptcy and went away in 1996.
John DuPrez did the musical score, and there’s not a lot of music to hear, except for kooky jingles and commercial background stuff (loved the mock shaft feel of “GANDHI 2” as well as the ol‘ “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” during Stanley’s monologue) that suits the comedic skits.
UHF is an entirely juvenile, doofy, hilarious “Weird Al” comedy which sticks as many guilty laughs and bizarre bits as can possibly be stuffed into a 97 minute film.

UHF is all this to me. Even if this movie were nothing but the *commercial* parodies alone, it would be fully worth the price of admission (whether it's saying "I love you with the gift of a spatula" or seeing the results of a shoddy cemetary, they're some of the best bits in this film).

MGM has seen fit to put both an anamorphic widescreen (16x9 TV compatible) and a PanandScan version of the movie on opposite sides of the same disc which, if you just have to include a PandS version, is the way to do it (unless you put them both on the same side of the disc).

“UHF” is one of the films MGM now holds the home video rights to from their acquisition of the Orion Pictures film library and I think this would qualify as a cult film of sorts because I am sure it has its fans out there.
I’m not one of them, but I respect the film for what it is: a series of spoofs of 1980s movie and television pop culture for “Weird Al” Yankovic to satirize the way he satirized contemporary music in the 1980s and early 90s.
They include the “UHF” music video, which is funnier than the entire film, the teaser and theatrical trailer, a production photo gallery and a promotional photo gallery that features one-sheet art, home video and even laserdisc packaging cover art.

Weird Al Yankovic describes and sings about so many wacky, bizarre scenarios in his songs and videos, that one might think, "what would he be like in a feature film?" So when his Uncle Harvey decides to give him a chance to be the new station manager of the UHF station, Channel 62, George jumps at the chance by putting more live shows.
