  UIAA Environment Label - Information
Central to the UIAA's work is the belief that the freedom to practice mountaineering, from the high, remote mountain peaks to the lowlands and coastal cliffs, is of great value to many of the world's citizens.
The UIAA recognises the enormous value of mountain areas as reservoirs of biological diversity; as places of great spiritual and historic interest; as places with spectacular natural phenomena associated with climate and geology, and as the location of some of the world's most beautiful and peaceful landscapes.
The UIAA is also concerned to ensure that the activities of mountaineers help to sustain local communities in ways which are beneficial to mountain people as a whole and are acceptable to the mountaineering community.

UIAA serves fellow institutions of power, to maintain their own power, and avoids the distribution of independent knowledge which questions that power, as is the imperative of institutions.
UIAA and the American Alpine Club will never allow a person who can think and ask effective questions, to be on a UIAA or American Alpine Club panel discussing the concerns of mountain climbers, or invade the titled hierarchy of those clubs.
UIAA leaders keep making fools of themselves by lamenting that not enough climbers know about UIAA, while those leaders are not sufficiently intelligent to figure out that they have the wrong organization representing UIAA in the wealthiest nation in the world, even when they are shown the proofs year after year after year.

UIAA leaders fail the latter, do not even try, and instead offer as many rhetorical illusions as US National Park Service sorts who trained their minds to sincerely believe they are serving the climbers by restricting and taxing them, without reasoning holding any cause-and-effect relationship.
The UIAA leadership was informed of that example, among many others, and continued to support and praise the anti-climbing American Alpine Club leadership, much to the amusement of Alaska climbers and other international climbers who ridicule UIAA leaders.
UIAA leaders have been offered the solutions for their problems, but lack the thinking-ability, that is, the ability to question perceived contradictions, to understand anything beyond more mindless members and more money, quite obviously.

 Ropes And Knots
The UIAA specifies a maximum impact force of 2540 pounds for single ropes and 1760 pounds for double ropes.
A rope with a low maximum impact force absorbs more of the energy generated in a given fall than a rope with a high maximum impact fore, thus transmitting less energy to the protection system and to the falling climber.
Historically, the UIAA (Union International des Associations d'Alpinisme) was the international body that certified climbing ropes.

Climbing UIAA and CE Helmet certification
The UIAA test is more strict — not the reverse, which you might assume by simply reading the 10kN/8kN numbers.
Front-, side-, and rear-impact tests are performed by tilting the helmet 60 degrees in the direction of the incoming blow, then dropping the 5kg striker onto the helmet from a height of 50cm.
It is important to note that test results can vary from lab to lab due to inconsistencies in how each lab adjusts the helmet’s fit and suspension on the head-form.

 Climbing Skinny Rope Review
As with weight, the UIAA determines diameter by weighting a section of rope and taking several measurements, which are then averaged to produce the final diameter.
As some manufacturers are disputing the validity of this test, the UIAA Safety Committee has formed a working group to develop a more accurate test of a rope’s sharp-edge resistance.
Static elongation, the UIAA’s current required elongation measurement, is determined by weighting a section of rope — the lower the elongation, the less rope stretch when you’re dogging up a route.

Rock Climbing Forums: Climbing Information: The Lab: UIAA single-rope testing of half ropes?
If true, all of the half ropes would be expected to hold 1 UIAA 80kg fall, since they must hold 5 55kg falls to be certified.
The mathematical equations describing energy absorbtion by climbing ropes suggest that the peak load obtained in a UIAA test fall with a 55 kg weight will be the same as the peak load obtained with an 80 kg weight and a fall factor of about 1.
Except for Rope D, the measured values are about 6% to 11% higher than the predicted values, which does not seem to me to be surprising for a linear model whose behavior at very high or very low loads is expected to depart from the real curve.
