United Kennel Club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United Kennel Club (or UKC) is the second oldest all-breed registry of purebred dog pedigrees in the United States and the second largest in the world.
The UKC states that Bennett formed the club in order to provide a registry for working dogs as opposed to the AKC's emphasis on dog conformation.
The UKC was innovative in the establishment of competitions and the use of DNA testing to establish parentage.

 Dog Owner's Guide: UKC sold
UKC was founded in 1898 by Chauncey Bennett, a dog fancier who wanted a registry that concentrated on the working ability of dogs as well as their adherence to a physical standard.
UKC was also the first registry to include agility in its repertoire of events and still remains the only major registry to accept mixed breed dogs in agility and obedience competitions.
UKC’s 55 gun dogs are the setters, retrievers, and all-around hunting dogs in the AKC sporting dog group plus many European spaniels, pointers, and retrievers as well as breeds with exotic names such as Stabyhoun, Pudelpointer; Barbet; and Kooikerhondje.

UKC dog breeders and owners must comply with all UKC rules, regulations, and policies, as well as all local, county, state and federal government regulations for kennel operations.
UKC reserves the right to correct any mistakes found during such inspection whether or not the document has the signature of a Judge or Club Officer.
The UKC “performance” pedigree is unique in that it provides the number of puppies produced by each dog in the 3-generation pedigree, and the number and types of titles earned by those offspring.

 UPBA/Poodles in the UKC
UKC believes that function is at least as important as form, that dogs should look and perform equally well.
Perhaps the clearest illustration of the importance UKC places on the "Total Dog" approach is that the UKC's highest and most coveted award is not the Champion or even the Grand Champion title, but rather the prestigious Total Dog Award, which is conferred only upon dogs who excel in both conformation and performance.
UKC has been registering poodles since 1914, but in the last decade the club's emphasis on the "Total Dog" has led it to make two changes affecting poodles.

UKC Terrier Racing Rules and regulations
Dogs participating in UKC events are expected to have stable temperaments appropriate to their breeds and to be sufficiently well trained so that no dog's behavior interferes with the Judge's ability to evaluate the dog or its performance.
When UKC is notified that a dog has been disqualified under this section, the owner of the dog will be notified by certified mail of the Judge's report (disqualified on the course) or the findings and recommendations of the host club (Complaint and hearing for biting or attacking outside the course).
UKC will not license events of the same type on the same day to be held by different clubs within 100 miles of each other, except that conformation shows may be scheduled within that distance if there are no common breeds being offered by the host clubs.

His intention for the UKC was “that it should be an organisation that would go out there and kick butt,” by being articulate and constructive.
The UKC should campaign till we stop having companies discriminate against positive employees, till there is good HIV healthcare in the primary sector, till there is no more nonsense about mandatory testing for anyone, immigrants or otherwise, till there are no more cases like a friend of mine who died in hospital recently with bedsores.
Some of us saw the UKC as an ‘emergency’ organisation and that maybe it was time to become the positive people’s section of one of the larger organisations like NAT.
