Lagi pun orang UMNO sudah tahu bahawa Abdullah Hj Ahmad adalah beban kepada UMNO menjelang 60 tahun.
Mungkin, kita tidak mahu orang melihat sokongan pembangkang yang semakin membengkak kerana ada kepimpinan kita dalam UMNO tidak terbuka minda mereka.

On 25 June 1987, an appeal was filed by 12 of the UMNO delegates (one of whom, Hussain bin Manap, withdrew unexpectedly in August) to have the assembly and the election of April 1987 declared null.
UMNO Malaysia was supported mainly by members of the Team B faction from UMNO, but Mahathir was also invited to join the party leadership.
UMNO sees itself as representing the Malays and Muslims of Malaysia, although any Bumiputra (indigenous Malaysian, a category which includes people such as the non-Malay and usually non-Muslim Kadazan, Iban, Dayak, etc. of East Malaysia) may join the party.

Umno disciplinary board chairman Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail said this was aimed at overcoming shortcomings in dealing with complaints of misconduct during party elections.
Umno has been in existence since 1946, or so it claims, though it was actually formed in the late 1980s when the old Umno was deregistered.

When Umno was deregistered by the Registrar of Societies in 1987, Tunku took the lead in an attempt to form a new Umno that he called Umno Malaysia.
At the Umno Baru General Assembly in October last year, around a month after Anwar Ibrahim was released from jail, Umno Youth made a declaration that all those who had left Umno to join or support the opposition in opposing Umno are traitors to both Umno as well as the Malay race.
Maybe the Umno Youth leader can be reminded of Umno Youth’s resolution in 2004 that declared all those who had left Umno to oppose the party as traitors to both Umno and the Malay race.

Muslims in Malaysia once were subjected to Islamic personal law - marriage, divorce, inheritance and the like - but over the years the shariah came to be introduced, with the non-Malay and non-Muslim parties in BN not objecting to it.
UMNO and PAS face the same internal convulsions over Islam: in UMNO a resentment for discarding the Malay cultural constituency, in PAS for allowing culture to intrude and welcoming as members those with a more cosmopolitan Islamic worldview.
UMNO could find itself unable to return to its cultural constituency and may not have much of an impact in the Islamic heartland.

Isa, 56, who serves in the cabinet as federal territories minister, is the most senior UMNO politician to be found guilty of corruption and breaching the party's code of ethics.
Officials said that if the suspension was upheld, he would be stripped of his vice president role and UMNO membership, but retain his status as a member of parliament.

Anwar, in fact, is grateful to Badawi for contributing to his release, in a sense, by not interfering with the judiciary and leaving it entirely to the judges to decide on his fate, based entirely on points of law.
Anwar still has a good relationship with most UMNO leaders, and as Mahathir increasingly loses his grip on the party, Anwar would have no problems working with the UMNO leaders, even though he is out of the party.
Malaysia will never be just or fully democratic until the people want this to happen, and the people, though they realize Malaysia is not democratic, are prepared to let the present government remain in power as long as the economy is still strong.

Because of his conviction, Lim Guan Eng was disqualified from being a member of parliament or holding elective office, was prohibited from holding any position in a political party for five years, and was barred from pursuing his profession as an accountant.
