The UNIVAC division of Remington Rand was renamed the Univac division of Sperry Rand.
In the 1960s, UNIVAC was one of the eight major computer companies in an industry then referred to as "Snow White and the seven dwarfs"—IBM, the largest, being Snow White and the others being the dwarfs: Burroughs, NCR, Control Data Corporation, General Electric, RCA and Honeywell.
The UNIVAC 1105 was the successor to the 1103A, and was introduced in 1958.

 UNIVAC Memories
The first computer I ever used was a UNIVAC 1107, and for more than a decade stretching from 1967 through 1978, most of my programming was oriented toward those machines, spanning four generations of hardware: the 1107, 1108, 1110, and 1100/80 (which I used briefly to develop microprocessor software).
UNIVAC 1100 machines used one's complement representation of negative numbers, as opposed to the two's complement form almost universal today.
Programmers of UNIVAC 1100 mainframes in the 1960's through the mid 1970's exalted in discovering clever ways to squeeze the most out of machines which, by today's standards, would be considered hopelessly slow and short of memory.

The notoriously famous original UNIVAC I of the Census Bureau was moved to the Smithsonian Institute to preserve as a forefather of the computer revolution.
UNIVAC 1 however proved to be a beautiful piece of computing equipment, much beloved by many of the people who were fortunate enough to rub shoulders with it.
UNIVAC I machine instructions were composed of an operation code, usually a letter, and an address which was meant to be a three decimal digit quantity from 000 to 999.

UNIVAC 1108 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The UNIVAC 1108 was the second member of Sperry Rand's UNIVAC 1100 series of computers, introduced in 1964.
Integrated circuits replaced the thin film memory that the UNIVAC 1107 used for register storage.
Just as the first UNIVAC 1108 systems were being delivered in 1965, Sperry Rand announced the UNIVAC 1108 II (also known as the UNIVAC 1108A) which had support for multiprocessing: up to three CPUs, four memory banks totaling 262,144 words, and two independent programmable input/output controllers (IOCs).

At Univac, work had been in progress on a more powerful machine, the Univac 9700, prior to the purchase of the Spectra 70 line from RCA; I have read that this work was put to use in a subsequent Series 90 computer from Univac, after modifications were made to achieve full Spectra 70 compatibility.
The Univac 9700 was to have been, like the Univac 9400 before it, compatible with the other members of the System/360 family to an extent.
However, I have learned that the Univac 9400 did not support the BXLE instruction, a problem state instruction used for looping in the IBM System/360, so contrary to my initial impression, the 9400 was actually less compatible with the System/360 than a Spectra 70 was.
