The division was activated on 15 August 1942.
The Division landed in Normandy, 16 December 1944, assigned to contain the enemy in the Lorient Pocket, but the Von Rundstedt offensive resulted in a forced march to the Meuse and the defense of a 30-mile sector from Givet to Sedan, 23 December.
In the final drive, the Division crossed the Regen River, 24 April, overran Grafena and Freyung, and plunged toward the Danube, seizing Rohrbach, Neufelden, and Zwettl.

The Hawaiian Division's support units composed primarily of the 3rd Engineer Regiment, the 11th Quartermaster Regiment and the 11th Medical Regiment were reorganized and redesignated as separate battalions and assigned to the two new divisions.
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.
On 1 August 1967 the 3rd Brigade rejoined the 25th Division and assumed control of the former elements of the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 22nd Infantry and the 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry.

HISTORY: The 10th Armored Division ("Tiger Division") was activated 15 July 1942 at Ft. Benning, Ga. and assigned to the Armored Force.
Leaving Teuertheville 25 Oct., the Division moved to Mars-la-Tour, where it entered combat (1 Nov.) in support of the XX Corps, containing enemy troops in the area.
On 20 Feb 45 the Division returned to the attack, and took part in the clearing of the Sarr-Moselle triangle, 15 March.

The battalion-strong Vietcong that lay in ambush along both side of the highway for 1100 yards destroyed three armored personnel carriers and one jeep, put a score of holes in a 52-ton M-48 tank and smashed a truck with recoilless-rifle fire.
One of the armored personnel carriers that survived five hits and managed to weave in and out of the ambush carrying wounded was driven by 2nd.

No, but the only reference to the 11th Armored "war crime" mentioned by Lipton is from a pro-Nazi website filled with allegations and incorrect facts.
This means he has no clue of whether it is a US war crime, if it was a crime at all, when it was shot or what is going on in the photo.
Lipton went on to suggest that it’s a photo of the US 11th Armored Division at Chenogne village, where they supposedly shot 60 German PWs in retaliation for the Malmedy massacre.

After the Normandy invasion the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment was permanently attached to the division which was stationed in the United Kingdom from 25 August to 23 December 1944.
On 18 January, the Division relieved the 11th Armored Division at Houffalize, pushed enemy remnants from the Bulge, and seized Wattermal and Espeler, 26 January.
Operation Varsity would be the last full scale airborne drop of World War II and the assignment went to the 17th Airborne Division with the 507th spearheading the assault dropping at the southern edge of the Diersfordter Forest, three mile northwest of Wesel.

The DIVISIONAL Cav squadron is intended primarily to be the "Eyes and Ears" of the Division.
I suppose someone could assemble the equivalent firepower with the right combination of infantry, armor, and artillery units; but we weren't some gaggle thrown together for a mission - we were a unit.
