The 2d Cavalry Division participated in the Second Army Maneuvers of late August as a component of the Red Forces facing the VII Corps' Blue Army.
The 2d and 14th Cavalry were inactivated and their personnel transferred into the newly formed 2d and 14th Armored Regiments, both elements of the new armored division.
The division was never engaged in combat and was instead assigned to construct airfields for the Tuskegee Airmen in north Africa and perform garrison and supply duties there.

The US 1st Cavalry Division (1st Cav Div) is a heavy-armored division of the United States Army.
The 1st Cavalry Division remained in the line until it was relieved by the 45th Infantry Division from the United States Army National Guard in January 1952.
The division was among the American units that crossed the border into Cambodia, extending the extent of the ground war quite considerably.

 Forums at the Society - Corps Cavalry With AEF Divisions
I agree with Todd, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment was assigned to the HQ, 3rd Army Corps and may have served with or was attached to divisions within the 3rd Corps, but they don't seem to appear on any other Army Corps OOB or returns.
Cavalry didn't form part of a division unless specially assigned, as it was in the case of the seven divisions mentioned above.
This was a radical departure for the U.S. Army, although the French apportioned their cavalry in much this way before the war (and so, by happy accident, were well-served when the war became a stalemate on the WF).

 25th Infantry Division Association: The Division
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.
On 1 August 1967 the 3rd Brigade rejoined the 25th Division and assumed control of the former elements of the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 22nd Infantry and the 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry.
The 2nd Brigade which had been reduced to zero strength in Vietnam in 1971 was brought back up to full strength in 1972 along with the remainder of the division except for the 3rd Brigade which was inactivated after having been held at zero strength since returning from Vietnam.

Adolf Hitler, who never cared much for the cavalry was persuaded by the successes of German and also Russian cavalry units in 1944 that this might be one of the "miracle-weapons" he always looked for.
While there was some limited success of German cavalry units in the east, the German horse-drawn convoys were smashed by the bombs of the American "flying fortresses" and low flying attack aircraft on the Western Front in 1944/45.
