 25th Infantry Division Association: The Division
Beginning in January 1946 the 25th Division's area of responsibility was greatly increased when it was ordered to assume the occupation areas formerly under the control of the inactivating 33rd and 98th Infantry Divisions.
The 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry was transferred to the 3rd Brigade as its third battalion and the 2nd Battalion, 9th Artillery was attached as the direct support artillery battalion as well as Troop C, 3/4th Cavalry as the brigade's reconnaissance element.
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.

In theory the US infantry regiment of World War II was a powerful, flexible organization and was the core of the infantry division.

 2nd Division 38th Infantry Regiment K Company
While training with French in 1917, Col. Herringshaw of the Service and Support Supply of the Second Infantry Division noticed that the French trucks were marked with symbols representing the unit to which each belonged.
The insignia of the 38th Infantry Regiment has a shield with a clear field of blue, representing loyalty, steadfastness and devotion to the principles of right and justice.
This shield is cut diagonally by three clear-cut white stripes which symbolize the three major operations of World War I in which the 3rd Division (of which the 38th Infantry was a part) participated.

Assigned to one of the last segregated units of the US Army, the 24th Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division, my father was witness to manĂ‚’s inhumanity to man; he saw combat in Korea and was wounded in action before his nineteenth birthday.
Comments: I enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 17, 1951 and was part of an Army "experiment" which amounted to moving enlistees (mostly 17 and 18 year olds) from all over the country in early 1951 to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii where we were given basic training, reduced by 4 weeks.
I was assigned to an infantry company in the 35th Infantry Regiment where I was in operations with that Regiment until I was rotated 10 1/2 months later, in the middle of June, 1952, reaching Adak, Alaska aboard a transport ship on July 4, 1952.

Tenente [Lt.] Riccardo Barni, Vice-President of the Prato Section, Italian National Association of Reserve Officers, and Major Jay Morsching, Secretary of the General Staff, 34th Infantry Division (NG), with the sculpture presented to the Association at the Council Bluffs Reunion.
The 100th Infantry Battalion (Nisei)(Separate), which stood in for the 2nd Battalion, 133rd Infantry, from September 1943 through May 1944, and the 442nd Infantry Regiment (Nisei) which was attached to our Division from June 1944 through August 1944, have an especially honored place in our memories and history.

Two U.S. soldiers died when their helicopter was shot down during fighting in Yusifiya, south of Baghdad, a military statement said.
