1869: A new $50 United States Note was issued with a portrait of Henry Clay on the right and an allegorical figure holding a laurel branch on the left of the obverse.
All variations of the $50 bill would carry the same portrait of Ulysses S. Grant, same border design on the obverse, and the same reverse with a vignette of the U.S. Capital.

US 50 was among the original 1926 routes, but for its first two years it consisted of two separate segments: one from Annapolis to Thistle UT, and the other from Ely NV to Sacramento.
US 93 wasn't extended through Ely (pronounced EE-lee) until 1932, so it's hard to say why that was chosen as the eastern terminus of US 50.
US 50 was completed between Thistle and Ely in 1928, and then in 1931 the designation was extended west to Hayward CA.

The US military said it had killed about 50 insurgents as it pressed on with two assaults in the restive western Iraqi province of Al-Anbar near the border with Syria.

50 is a pretty nice road to traverse.
My siggestion is to take 50 to Pueblo, head south to Walsenberg and then 160 west.
My map program computes the best route as being US 160 all the way as opposed to US 50.
