 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized)
The 5th Division, from it's landing in Normandy July 9, 1944 to the last Division Headquarters in Vilshofen, Germany traveled 2049 miles and engaged in all five of the ETO's major campaigns.
This task force consisted of the 4th Bn., 6th Infantry, 5th Division (Mechanized) with supporting elements and was assigned the mission of the assault of "la Comandcia", the headquarters of Noriega'a Panama Defense Forces (PDF).
The 5th Mechanized Infantry Division was re-organized at Fort Polk, LA in 1976.

Dale was a corporal with the 70th on February 17 when it attacked near the Saar River between Germany and France and captured the high ground above the German city of Saarbrucken.
On February 21, as the infantry approached Spicheren Heights overlooking the city, he went along as a forward observer for the artillery.
In the next few weeks, the 70th Infantry Division went on to liberate French border towns, free 1,000 Allied prisoners and cross the river at night to capture Saarbrucken after two days of fierce fighting.

He served in Company K of the 21st Regiment of the 24th infantry division in WWII and died somewhere near Hollandia on on July 3, 1944 on New Guinea of wounds recieved in battle.
From what she can remember his name was Clyde B. Steve, he was in 24th division in the Korean War, was once stationed in Fort Gordon, in Georgia (we think), he was an E-3 and would have been an E-8 getting out of the Army.
He was in Co. G, 53rd infantry, 101st airborne at camp Breckinridge, KY during basic around February of 1951.
