 3rd Armored Division
The Division breached the Siegfried Line with the capture of Rotgen, 12 September, and continued a slow advance against heavy resistance, to the vicinity of Langerwehe.
When the Battle of the Bulge broke, the Division was shifted to Houffalize, Belgium, where it severed a vital highway leading to St. Vith, and in January participated in the reduction of the German salient west of Houffalize.
The Division swept on to Paderborn ; it was at a road junction near Paderborn that Major General Rose was killed while attempting to surrender to a German tank commander, 31 March 1945.

The 8th AD crossed Roer on February 27, then in company from the 35th and 84th IDs it captured the towns of Tetelrath, Oberkruchten, Rheinberg and Ossenberg in spite of a savage resistance.
The 8th AD remained in the area Pilsen of June 6 at September 19, 1945 then was repatriated in the USA to Camp Patrick Henry (Virginia) where it was desactivated on November 13, 1945.

He tells me it was a special group (8th Cav./Airborne) and did not have many men in it, only 154 jumpers.
He doesnt have first names, but they were in the 3rd Armored Div in Ft Knox, KY in '52, then they went to Ft. Hood, TX in '53 and then overseas to Korea during '53-'54.
He was a member of the 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Reconnaissance Company, and was in tanks at some point in Korea.
