The current lightweight diving mask used by navy divers is the MK 20 Aga mask, which has two-way communications and a normal working depth limit for the navy of 60 feet.
However, in ’78 and ’79 NEDU was developing four new systems; the Mark 11 semi-closed circuit system; the Mark 14 “push/pull” to conserve helium and extend dive times on saturation dives; the MK 15 UBA mixed gas rebreather; and the MK 12 SSDS.
Not to be forgotten, it is still a source of considerable pride for a navy diver to be able to claim that he had been trained on the venerable MK V heavy gear.

A Navy (NTS-Newport) monopoly of the torpedo business such as existed with steam torpedoes from 1922 to 1941 disappeared and has not been re-established in the years since WW II Full scale production of torpedoes at NTS Newport ended in 1946 and the Goat Island facility was totally closed by 1951.
US Navy interest in electric torpedoes began in 1915 with a project at Sperry Gyroscope Co. Successor in-house projects, again sporadic, produced designs and development models designated "EL" and Electric Torpedo Mk.1.
Mark 42 was, however a significant milestone in that it was the last mark assigned to a US Navy non-homing torpedo.

The 6 x 30 Mark XI is a later model, introduced in the late 1920s, waterproof, with an aluminum upper prism housing cover with sloped cutaway outer edge, 7 screws attaching the flat lower cover, and large rubber eyecups.
One example is marked Bureau of Ships, and has a stamped acceptance mark (not engraved, and assuming it is an acceptance mark), of a large N with an O around it, followed by 232.
This binocular uses triplet objectives; and mirrors of solid aluminum instead of prisms, this is a poor material to use for a reflecting surface & should probably be considered experimental (especially since the back of the mirrors are the outer shell of the body, with the rubber covering glued onto the mirrors!).

 NavyDiver.org - History
Although NAVY DIVER.ORG primarily documents US Navy diving today, it is important to appreciate the significant influence that US Navy diving and research has had on all aspects of deep-sea diving.
As far back as the 1800s, but more in the early 1900s, the US Navy was involved in deep salvage operations and already gaining an appreciation for the limits of deep airdiving and the need for better equipment and techniques.
Even though most of the following dates relate to US Navy diving, it would be remiss to omit the contributions of the early British inventors such as Augustus Siebe and Sir Robert Davis; eminent Scottish physiologist John Scott Haldane; the Royal Navy; and a French naval Lieutenant by the name of Cousteau.

MOD: Military spending to favour tech - ZDNet UK News
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has rejected opposition claims that its planned investment in new technology is actually a "smokescreen" for cost-cutting.
In a speech on Thursday to announce the publication of a white paper detailing the MOD plans for the modernisation of the armed forces, the defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, claimed new technology would be key to creating a mobile and flexible fighting force capable of staying ahead of potential adversaries.
The reality is that in order to pay for new capabilities the MOD will have to defer or cancel elements of major equipment or programmes or freeze recruiting.
