Steve Nash was born in South Africa because of his father's soccer career, but the family relocated to Canada before he was two years old because they did not want to raise their children in an environment of apartheid.
Nash had decided to focus on basketball in his early teens, but still played soccer through high school, and was named British Columbia player of the year in soccer as well as basketball in his senior year.
In his senior season, he averaged nearly a triple-double per game—more than 21 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds—led his team to the BC AAA provincial championship title, and was named the province's player of the year.

 Planet Field Hockey.com - National Team Commitments?
There has been a large diffrence in the women' and men's programs for a long time and that is that women's field hockey is a CIAU sport and for the last million years the head coach of the Women's National Team has been a coach of a Uni program.
I don't really see that on the women's side, don't get me wrong, women are intense on the field, but not really in league play in our respective cities, unless its the one big game of the season.
This womens team hasnt had the results that we as a country see aceptable.
