 US Army Corps of Engineers - Los Angeles District - 096161 - KERP/Tucson Ajo Detention Basin, AZ
The Tucson Ajo Detention basin (approximately 120-acres) was constructed by the USACE in 1966 as a flood control element which intercepted and reduced peak flows upstream from Tucson Arroyo and Railroad Wash drainage areas.
In early 1997, USACE initiated a Preliminary Restoration Plan to determine the feasibility of modifying the basin features for riparian habitat restoration.
USACE worked closely with our sponsor to address their multi-objective approach to managing watercourses, floodplains and storm water resources and protecting natural resources.

 ERDC-CERL Receives USACE Small Business Award
CERL exceeded the statutory minimum for service-disabled veteran-owned small business contracts, which is equal to 3 percent of the contracts awarded.
CERL was one of four USACE organizations to exceed the 3 percent and receive the award, which is presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
It conducts research in both military and civil works mission areas for the Department of Defense and the nation.
