  USL Second Division - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1995 the USISL split into two leagues, one professional and one amateur.
In 1996, the USISL established the new Select League consisting of its strongest teams from the Pro League and Premier League in hopes of gaining FIFA Division 2 sanctioning.
In 1999 the umbrella USISL changed its name to the United Soccer Leagues and the Pro League officially became known as the United Soccer Leagues D3 Pro League.

The Richmond Kickers are an American professional soccer team, which will move to the USL Second Division, the third level of the United States soccer pyramid, for 2006, after several years in the second level (USISL, A-League, and USL First Division).
They currently play their games at the University of Richmond Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
The Kickers were founded in 1993, playing their first season in the USISL, playing in the league's amateur division.

Management of the Hampton Roads Hurricanes, the first-year semipro franchise that leads the United States Interregional Soccer League in attendance, was stripped from owner Ellis Gillespie on Friday for a failure to meet a financial commitment to the league.
The letter of credit is normally required up front, but Gillespie said USISL commissioner Francisco Marcos waived it at that time, though Gillespie knew it would be due at some point.
However, a statement released by the USISL on Friday said that it is ``expected that formal membership rights will be granted to Hampton Roads Sports LLC'' at that meeting.
