		Membership in this Chapter shall not be limited to members in good standing of USITT; neither shall it be limited to students at North Dakota State University, but to college and university students in the immediate area that for reasons unto themselves cannot form Chapters at their own colleges and universities.

		The USITT Annual Conference and Stage Expo is a focal point for performing arts and entertainment professionals.

	USITT Awards
		USITT recognizes excellence and significant contributions in the performing arts and entertainment industry, in the areas of design and technology, through a variety of awards.
		The Joel E. Rubin Founder's Award is given to a USITT member in recognition of outstanding and continued service to the Institute.

		USITT President Bruce Brockman has appointed Dennis Dorn, USITT Vice-President for Commissions and professor of theatre technology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as USITT’s representative to the Council.
		He has also appointed Joe Aldridge, USITT Vice-President for Special Operations, professor and technical director at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and a trustee for IATSE Local 720-Nevada Resort Association’s Training Trust as their alternate member of the Council.
		Dorn said, “I am delighted to represent USITT as a partner in the effort by ESTA members to assure that stage technicians will be well versed in the new technologies and long-time safe practices required of modern entertainment industry technicians.

		In addition, he/she shall be responsible for periodic Chapter reports to the USITT Vice President for Relations.
		The annual report to the vice-president for Relations, which is required by USITT for annual action by the Board of Directors in order to renew the Chapter charter, must be prepared by the Chairman to arrive on or before November 1 of each year.

	USITT Scene Painting Workshop
		A pre-conference event of the 1998 USITT national conference; a Professional Development project of the USITT: Drawing, Rendering and Painting: The Historical Method was held in the scene shop of Long Beach State University.
		As another activity at the USITT, two busses were taken to the Scottish Rite Temple in Pasadena to see the scenery installed there.
		Thomas Moses, a scene painter for the Sosman and Landis Scenic Company had joined the Masons at that temple - and a mural by him was discovered over the fireplace of one of the lounges.

	USITT 2005 Breaks Records
		USITT has launched a Monograph series with Kim as the first subject.
		Jarmila Gabrielova was not present to receive her USITT Award, but she was vividly portrayed for all those attending the Awards Banquet by Eric Fielding, who himself received a Special Citation for his Herculean work to create the first World Stage Design exhibit.

		We recommend that USITT establish a "Design Registry" focusing on collections containing the work of a specific professional group: scenographers and theatre designers.
		SIBMAS is interested in getting as much input as is possible in order to make the use of the directory even better, but has not addressed this question in the main directory because of the lack of all the necessary information needed.
		We urge USITT to consider the possibility of sponsoring a fellowship for a graduate student to help identify relevant holdings within collections specifically related to theatre design and scenography.

		USITT, United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the association of design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry, has published The Designs Of Willa Kim, the first in a series of monographs on American theatre designers.
		Her other awards include two Emmy Awards, an Obie Award, two Drama Desk Awards, the Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award, 1999, the Patricia Zipprodt Award for Innovative Costume Design, 2003, and the USITT Distinguished Achievement in Costume Design Award, 2005.
