Eugene A. Obregon and USNS 1st Lt. Harry L. Martin participated in exercise Dynamic Mix in Spain; MV Cpl. Louis J. Hauge and SS Maj. Stephen W. Pless took part in Exercise Bright Star in Egypt; and MV 1st Lt. Jack Lummus and MV Pfc.
USNS Henry J. Kaiser, a former Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force oiler being used to preposition fuel afloat, was returned to the NFAF for dry-docking and lay-up in a reduced operating status at the end of FY 2002.

 World Navies Today: US Navy Sealift Ships
Navy-owned ships carry "USNS" prefixes with their names; others have civilian prefixes (M/V, S/S, etc.).
The new-construction/new-conversion prepositioning ships are roll-on/roll-off vehicle cargo ships, with additional container and general-cargo capbility, meant to carry large numbers of Marine Corps or Army vehicles and supplies.
Notes: A tanker built using the stern section of a previous USNS Potomac (T-AO 150), which was destroyed by an explosion in 1961.
