 T-AGOS 1 Stalwart
The USNS BOLD (T-AGOS 12), the 12th ship of the Stalwart class, completed the 500th SURTASS mission, and a ceremony commemorating the milestone mission was conducted at U. Naval Station; Rota, Spain July 12, 2000 as BOLD made a portcall there following her historic patrol.
USNS BOLD became the first T-AGOS ship to complete this upgrade, which added a Twin-Line towed array, a surface ship tracking capability, and included a COTS processing refresh and communications upgrade.
Stalwart, along with two sister ships, was deactivated in the early 1990s when the end of the Cold War signaled a reduced submarine threat from the former Soviet Union.

A sixth ship, USNS Kane, completed her almost 34 years of MSC service March 14 and was turned over to the Turkish navy and redesignated TCG Candarli.
USNS Stalwart, USNS Indomitable and USNS Capable, three modified ocean surveillance ships, supported U.S. counter-drug efforts in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
USNS Observation Island is the oldest ship in MSC service, with almost 48 years of service, and the second oldest operational ship in the Navy — USS Constitution is oldest.

USNS Invincible provides a platform for a dual-band radar developed by the U.S. Air Force to support its collection requirements against theater ballistic missiles.
USNS Observation Island was built as a "Mariner" class merchant ship; launched Aug. 15, 1953; acquired by the Navy on Sept. 10, 1956, for use as a Fleet Ballistic Missile test ship.
On Aug. 18, 1977, Observation Island was reacquired by the U.S. Navy from the Maritime Administration and transferred to Military Sealift Command and reclassified as T-AGM 23.

Right now, the most likely scenario is that the USN will continue to modernize and upgrade its existing fleet of AGOS vessels, while the somewhat related Pathfinder AGS (surveying ship) class will see completion of the two units.

USNS Prevail (T-AGOS 8), USNS Assertive (T-AGOS 9), and USNS Bold (T-AGOS 12) use surveillance towed-array sensor system (SURTASS) equipment to support the Navy's antisubmarine warfare capability.
Three other ships-USNS Stalwart (T-- AGOS 1), USNS Indomitable (T-AGOS 7) and USNS Capable (T-AGOS 9)were converted to carry large air-search radars and operate as part of the Joint Interagency Task Force in CD operations.
The third, USNS Capable, has been reassigned to air duties in support of fleet surveillance.
