  USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The second USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) of the United States Navy was an Independence-class light aircraft carrier.
A brief stop at Eniwetok preceded dawn-to-dusk CAP and ASP duty while other carriers struck at Yap, Ulithi, Anguar and Babelthuap, pinning down Japanese air forces while the Palaus were being assaulted on 15 September.
Her hull was sold for scrapping on 15 December 1971 to National Metal and Steel Corporation, Terminal Island, Los Angeles, California.

The second Asp-a three-gun schooner purchased on 17 February 1813 at Alexandria, D.C. (now Virginia), as Adeline-was outfitted as a warship at the Washington Navy Yard.
At that point, her second in command, Midshipman H. McClintock k, led the remnants of Asp's crew back on board, extin- guished the flames, and put her back in fighting trim.
Asp finished out her Navy career at Baltimore, Md. First, she served as tender to the frigate Java then under construction and later became a receiving ship at Baltimore.

While a group of local Navy veterans has abandoned plans to dock the USS Des Moines along our downtown lakefront park, the project is by no means dead.
The USS Des Moines project would have brought a clutter of lights, signs, security fencing, parking, trash facilities, roadways and a bus turnaround to the lakefront.
