Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name Big Horn, named for the Bighorn River of Wyoming and Montana.
The first, USS Big Horn (AO-45), was a tanker acquired by the Navy in 1942, and converted into a Q-ship.
The second, USNS Big Horn (T-AO-198), is a Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet oiler, launched in 1991 and actively serving as of 2005.

During a five-day period late in November, Big Horn's task group was in the midst of a group of from 10 to 15 German submarines.
At the completion of her Coast Guard duty early in February 1945, Big Horn became IX-207 and was assigned to the Pacific, and after the war's end she operated in Japanese waters as a tank supply vessel.
USS Big Horn was one of several "Q-ships" operated by the U.S. Navy in the early part of the war.

The USS Atik was about 300 miles off the Virginia coast steaming alone and presenting itself as a tempting target.
A schooner, a Boston trawler (re-named Eagle), and a tanker, re-named USS Big Horn.
The Big Horn was also the only ship of the five that actually was eventually commissioned as IX 207 and carried on the US Navy register.
