One of the largest and most important ships built during those years was the aircraft carrier USS Lexington (CV2), delivered in 1927.
When she took two torpedo hits during the Battle of Coral Sea and was sunk, the yard employees petitioned the Government to name another carrier after her.

The USS Constellation, on its final overseas mission before going into a scheduled retirement, left the Gulf Thursday, one day after the carrier USS Kitty Hawk departed for its homeport in Yokosuka, Japan, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Two other carriers that participated in the air war from positions in the eastern Mediterranean - the USS Harry S. Truman and the USS Theodore Roosevelt - are going to alternate on port visits in the Mediterranean but not head home yet, the officials said.
The USS Carl Vinson, which took the Kitty Hawk's place in the Pacific in February, is making a port call in Guam but is to return to the vicinity of Japan and remain while the Kitty Hawk is repaired in a Japanese shipyard, officials said.

I was on board when the Ranger went up to Korea during the U.S.S. Pueblo seizure.

The reason I invited folks to take a look at the color photo of USS DRAYTON on the NavSource page is that she too is in Ms.1, even though your eyes will make you swear she's in Ms.11, Navy Blue (5-N).
The tip-off is the Light Gray (5-L) mast top, which was only used with Ms.1 and not with Ms.11.

Little work was encountered on soil moisture/runoff impacts of land leveling.
One study showed that a leveled area accumulated in seven months the soil moisture that 19-21 months of fallow would accumulate (126).
But this same study also concluded that benefits were dependent on the timing and distribution of rainfall; this may explain the lack of any effect of leveling on soil moisture found in the other study (112).
