 USS Charlotte
Charlotte was commissioned 9 October 1944, under the command of CDR Ralph D. Dean, USCG.
Charlotte cleared Boston 8 January 1945 to take up what was to be her primary mission through her naval service, sailing to Argentia, Newfoundland, where she took up weather station duty.
Charlotte arrived at Norfolk, Va., 15 March 1946, and was decommissioned there 16 April 1946.

I have found a cruise book from the 1936 maneuvers of the USS Louisville which he was assigned and an all fl sailor basic training photograph from Norfolk when he graduated from basic training.
USS Sandusky PF 54 1943 - 1945 and/or USS Dickman Ap13 1945 - 1946?.
I came aboard the USS Macon in Oct. 1947 and was there for abbout 15 months I was on the boxing team during that time.Love to hear from anyone that was a shipmate.

We were listed as a PF by the IRS last April, due to a paperwork snafu in our filing, and after refiling our last determination forms, the IRS changed BTC back to the proper status of 501 (c) (3).
Stepping aboard the USS Orion after almost three years of fighting for her was an emotional experience for me. She was my grandfather’s ship and I couldn’t help but think of that as I walked the same decks he did over 60 years ago.
The USS Crescent City is manhandling most of my time at the moment...that part of the project is in priority--one mode and it is looking as if we'll complete her title transfer this week or next (maybe after I get back from the James River, DC trip).

Kathleen Pendleton Malley, 96, a former administrative secretary with the FBI and the Federal Reserve Board, died April 18 of complications of several strokes at the Manor Care nursing home in Chevy Chase.
Malley was an administrative secretary at the FBI from 1926 to 1935, spending a year in Charlotte and then in Washington where she had several temporary assignments as J. Edgar Hoover's personal secretary.
After officially retiring at age 60, he continued working for many years as a part-time consultant for the State Department and other agencies and organizations.
