Three vessels of the United States Navy have been named USS Cheyenne, in honor of the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The name Cheyenne was assigned to CL-86, but the light cruiser was renamed Vicksburg a year before she was launched in 1942.

Under the command of Cmdr. Charles Doty, USS Cheyenne is the 62nd Los Angeles class attack submarine and was commissioned in Sept. 1996.
Homeported in Pearl Harbor, USS Cheyenne left for deployment from Hawai'i on July 31, 2002.

I'm a nuclear electronics technician, and I've previously been assigned to the USS Tucson (SSN-770) and USS Cheyenne (SSN-773).
Cheyenne completed a Western Pacific deployment in April 2003, one that was originally scheduled for 6 months...Operation Iraqi Freedom had different plans for us, and it was nine months before we saw Pearl Harbor again.
I reported to Cheyenne in September 2001, a week after the 9/11 attacks.
