 USS Cleveland (CL-55) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The second USS Cleveland (CL-55) of the United States Navy was a light cruiser, the lead ship of the Cleveland class and active in both the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters of World War II.
Her first mission in the consolidation of the Solomon Islands was with TF 18 to guard a troop convoy to Guadalcanal from 27 to 31 January, Cleveland fired on the enemy as she came under heavy air attack in the battle of Rennell Island on the 29th and 30th.
Cleveland got underway from Okinawa 9 September to support the occupation of Japan by covering the evacuation of Allied prisoners of war from Wakayama, then serving as part of a naval occupation group until the 6th Army made its landings on Honshu.

The longest lived of the Cleveland class cruisers, she was sold for scrap in 1995.
CVL-28 recommissioned in Oct 1948 and was modified for ASW duties, went out of service in Jan 1955 and from 1965-67 was refitted for transfer to the Spanish Navy where she served until 1989.

The USS Cleveland is the lead ship of a new class of World War two light cruiser that represents the lessons learned in earlier classes.
The Cleveland's were the most numerous of the US Navy light cruisers and this kit will build the earlier "round bridge" style Cleveland class cruisers.
Later ships in this class were built with a square bridge, Pitroad also has a kit of it in their USS Miami.

USS Wolverine, Unclassified Miscellaneous Vessel Number 64 (IX-64) had been launched in 1912 by Detroit Shipbuilding as SS Seeandbee.
This successful demonstration led to mass production of the fuze.
