 USS Raleigh (C-8) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
USS Raleigh (C-8) was a protected cruiser commissioned in 1894 and in periodic service until 1919.
With USS Concord (PG-3) and USS Boston, she returned the fire, then moved toward Cavite to engage the Spanish fleet.
On 2 May, she sent officers ashore to demand the surrender of Corregidor and, on the 3rd, sent men to disable the batteries there and destroy the munitions.

 USS Concord
Concord operated on the New England coast, and sailed from New York 17 November 1891 on a cruise to the West Indies and South America with her squadron, then arrived at New Orleans 27 April 1892 and cruised up the Mississippi River as far as Cairo, Ill., visiting various ports en route.
Concord resumed her patrol on station in August 1898, but returned to the Philippines 19 December to assist in putting down the insurrection.
Concord was recommissioned again 16 September 1906, sailed from Bremerton 24 December 1906, operated in the Philippines until March 1906, then sailed to China.

 Naval History/USS Concord CL-10
The fourth Concord (CI - 10) was launched 16 December 1921 by William Cramp and Sons, Philadelphia, Pa. sponsored by Miss H. Butterick, and commissioned 3 November 1923, Captain O. Murfin in command.
On her maiden cruise, between 23 November 1923 and 9 April 1924, Concord called at Mediterranean ports, passed through the Suez Canal to round the Cape of Good Hope, and exercised with the fleet in the Caribbean before returning to Philadelphia.
On 31 August 1945, Concord stood out from Adak, covered the occupation landings at Ominato, Japan between 8 and 14 September, and sailed on to Pearl Harbor, the Cunal Zone, Boston, and Philadelphia, where she was decommissioned 12 December 1945 and sold 21 January 1947.

USNS Concord is the fifth ship to bear the name and has been preceded by the first USS Concord, a sloop of war, commissioned in 1830, and serving in the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean Sea, off the South American coast, and in the Indian Ocean.
The second USS Concord, a twin-screw gunboat commissioned in 1891, saw service throughout the world, most notably in 1898 as part of Adm. George Dewey's squadron at the Battle of Manila Bay in the Philippines.

U.S.S. A native of Waukegan, Illinois, Richard Lansing Conolly attended Lake Forrest Academy, Lake Forrest, IL, prior to his appointment in 1910 to the Naval Academy.
Transferred in May 1916 to USS Smith, he was aboard that destroyer when the United States entered World War I, in April 1917, and served aboard SMITH while she performed escort duty in European waters out of Brest, France.
In March 1924 he was transferred to USS New York, and served as assistant Engineer Officer of that battleship until September 1925.

In October of 1909 he assisted in assembling the crew of the USS New Orleans and served on board that cruiser from her commissioning, Nov. 15, 1909, until May 1910.
