During testing we found some discrepancies with the OEM specification sheets we normally use and the data that was in the Navsea tech manual.
During replacement of the SAC on that engine we were not able to achieve the required runnout readings on the front cover.

USS Enterprise Battle Group, USS Nassau Amphibious Ready Group begin deployment by 2nd Fleet Public Affairs NORFOLK (NNS) -- The USS Enterprise (CVN 65) Battle Group, with Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW 3) embarked, began a scheduled six-month deployment Nov. 6.
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen on Tuesday announced that he had recommended to the president that the transit of USS Enterprise be accelerated to have the ship arrive in the Arabian Gulf by Nov. 23, instead of the planned arrival on Nov. 26.
Secretary Cohen also recommended that the USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3) Amphibious Ready Group deploy from the Western Pacific Ocean to join Enterprise in the Gulf by Nov. 26.

On 5 August 1987, the unit reported to the command ship USS La Salle (AFG-3) on station and, on 8 August, the unit accompanied the USS La Salle on an escort mission.
Later that day, the first SEABAT team was transferred to the USS Klakring (FFG-42) and ordered to protect minesweeping tugboats operating west of Farsi Island where the channel narrows.
The president of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, encouraged by the Kuwaiti oil minister, agreed to lease the barges, and on 5 September 1987, contracts were issued to modify the barges and provide them for special operations use along the convoy route in the vicinity of Farsi Island.

Syndicated radio talk show host Neal Boortz broadcasted his show from the foc'sle of USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) and got a chance to fly in one of HSL-48's SH-60B Seahawk helicopters.
Marines from the II Marine Expeditionary Force launched their Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) and Landing Crafts Air Cushion from USS Bataan (LHD 5) and stormed Marines on Jacksonville beach, as AV-8B Harriers, F/A-18 Hornets, AH-1W Cobra Gunships and CH-46E Sea Knights provided simulated air support during the demonstration.
USS Klakring (FFG 42) also provided simulated shore fire support from offshore.

Leslie Klakring, he entered the Naval Academy from the State of Connecticut, and graduated with the Class of 1927.
A submarine hero of the Pacific War in World War II, Admiral Klakring was credited with sinking eight Japanese ships within sight of Japanese ports, after taking his submarine, USS GUARDFISH, into Japanese water previously un-patrolled by American submarines.
For his heroism while commanding GUARDFISH, Klakring was awarded the Navy Cross with two Gold Stars (in lieu of second and third awards).

Lasky was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. He moved to southern Florida in the 1970s and enlisted in the Navy in 1982.
After graduating from boot camp and Personnelman "A" school, PNSR Lasky was transferred to the USS Savannah (AOR-4).
Following a long rehabilitation in 1997 from a broken leg, Lasky reported to the USS Klakring (FFG-42), where he served as the personnel officer.

The Memorial Ceremony was very moving, as always, and everyone had a great time on the USS Klakring tour.
CDR Mark D. Genung, CO of the Klakring welcomes us for a tour of his ship which is tied up at the head of Berth D, our home so many years ago.
The gang on the pier after our tour thanks to ENS Jack Griffitts who is the PAO for the Klakring.

In July 2003 he transferred with the squadron to NAS Lemoore, California, transitioning from the F-14D Super Tomcat to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
