 Gulf War: March 1991
USS NORMANDY (CG-60) diverts a freighter in the N. Red Sea, and assists USS WILLIAM V. PRATT (DDG-44) with diversion of a second freighter in the North Red Sea.
USS SAN JACINTO (CG-56) conducted maritime intercept operations preventing cargo shipments to or from Iraq and served as the antiwarfare commander protecting the Red Sea battle force from preemptive Iraqi or terrorist attacks.
USS SOUTH CAROLINA (CON-37) spearheaded maritime interceptions in the Red Sea, boarding 26 merchant vessels before shifting to anti-air warfare commander for the Mediterranean Sea, protecting and identifying hundreds of coalition aircraft transiting to and from air strikes.

Shortly after reporting aboard the USS POLLUX he was promoted to CSK (SKC) because of his former military experience as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and his longshore experience.
His career naval highlight was being a plank owner of the USS Arkansas and as Command Master Chief of the USS San Diego.
Chuck was a FA on the POLLUX and retired in 1967 as a BTC.

Years 1952 - 1961 USS FIRM (MSO 444) was one of the U.S. Navy?s newest class of minesweepers.
Year 1970 As 1970 began, FIRM was on its way from Subic Bay, R.P. to Guam, M.I. It was the first leg of her journey home to Long Beach after a highly successful seven month deployment in the Western Pacific for which she was recommended for the Navy Unit Commendation by CTF 115.
Year 1971 The U.S.S. FIRM was commanded by LCDR John B. BONDS, USN, throughout 1971 and until FIRM?s decommissioning and transfer to the Philippine Navy on July 5, 1972.

After we left the Marines on Midway, we were sent to Kodiak, AL along with the USS Honolulu and two heavy cruisers, one of which was the USS Louisville.
The U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides) as a combat vessel carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men.
We finished the St. Louis work, but I still didn’t have enough points to get out and was assigned to the USS Wichita to help with their work.

It has been brought to my attention, we are in sore need of an available small stores printed listing for the convenience of our readers and crew members.
An LST pulled along side and we took on 5" and 6" ammunition.
Our job was to escort the ships to Formosa, we found out later they would be the occupying troops, scuttlebutt had it the garrison and island surrender from the Japanese commander would take place on the St. Louis.

The USS Peterson (DE-152) was named for Oscar Verner Peterson, who was born in Prentis, Wisconsin on 27 August 1899.
The Coast Guard-manned destroyer escort USS Peterson (DE-152) was built by the Consolidated Shipbuilding Corporation at Orange, Texas, and was commissioned on September 29, 1943 under the command of LCDR R. Rea, USCG.
On October 6, 1944, Escort Division 22 was made a unit of a larger group consisting of the USS Doran (DD-634) and four Navy-manned destroyer escorts: the USS Burrows (DE-105), Slater (DE-766), Oswald (DE-767), and Ebert (DE-768).

Did you serve aboard the USS Ranger,if so when?: NO Comments: Was on the Valley Forge 55 to 59 in the oil shack.
Comments: I enjoy, being on the USS Ranger in the supply dept, S-8 div the only that i didn't like was the 121 days out to sea, I would do it all over again, If i had a chance.
Especially considering our replacement...the USS Constellation, or USS Constipation as we were so fond of calling her.

Bosun Mike Muzio piped aboard our guests of honor, Pearl Harbor survivors Bill Langston and Andrew Bovitz of the USS WEST VIRGINIA, Charles Eble of the USS CURTISS and Arthur Biskin who was stationed at Wheeler Field.
Our prayers and best wishes go out to another group of sailors, twenty- nine LST veterans who left Gibraltar, December 12th sailing another Greek-American ex-patriot, LST 325, back from Greece under her own power.
