 USS LST Ship Memorial - Progress Report
While on the LST 736 his and his shipmates' tour of duty included the Solomon Islands, Caroline Islands, New Guinea, Philippine Islands, Netherland Indies, Okinawa Islands, Saipan Islands, Guam, Tokyo Bay and Pearl Harbor.
It was just before the 2001 LST Convention in Mobile, and although they were very busy, they took the time to make it a very special day for all of us.
He also maintained a website for LST 325 which included all of his situation reports, as well as many photographs showing the hard work done in Greece getting the ship seaworthy — that site is a must-see for anyone who hopes to understand what it took to bring this ship home.

The HMAS Warramunga, USS Bush and Ammen came to the assistance of the Mullany, in an attempt to knock out the estimated five 4” guns.
On 16 March at 0850 LST convoy H-4 and the Swanson arrived at Seeadler Harbor entrance and the LST’s were proceeding into the Harbor.
At 1250 hours on 19 March the Swanson in company with the USS Stevenson and Wilkes was steaming enroute to the south side of Los Negros Island to bombard enemy positions on Los Negros Island.

Was transfered for a short period in an emergency deployment to the USS Bordelon to be on the blockade of Cuba as a radioman, transfered back to the Luce afterwards.
I attended the funeral of President John F. Kennedy while in DC.My last duty was aboard the USS Salish out of Mayport Fla. We were the prime ship that fought the fires aboard the cruise ship Vi king Princess as she burned in the Carribean.
Subsequently, I was assigned to USS Indepen- dence CVA-62 at NOB Norfolk.

 USS YAZOO
USS YAZOO (APJ-92) was laid down on 6 July 1944 at Duluth, MN by the Zenith Dredge Co., launched on 19 October 1944, and commissioned on 31 May 1945.
YAZOO joined USS EXULTANT (MSO-441) and USS FIDELITY (MSO-443) on IS June 1956 in carrying out a special mine project off the coast of Charleston and Cape Romain, SC, which lasted until 23 July.
Assigned to the Norfolk group of the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, YAZOO was struck from the Navy List on I July 1963 and transferred to the Maritime Administration for a lay up in the James River.

 USS Warrington (DD-383), Somers-class destroyer
At the latter place, she joined the antisubmarine screen of a Hollandia-bound convoy of LST's.
Warrington entered the bay on the 28th but departed again late that afternoon to escort an echelon of LST's to a convoy rendezvous point.
Following a voyage that took her to Manus in the Admiralties and back to Espiritu Santo in the New Hebrides, Warrington departed the latter port on 19 June in company with Balch to return to the United States.

Five members of the American Welding Society's Mobile Section volunteered their time and talents to assist crew members in the restoration of the M/V LST Ship Memorial (LST stands for landing ship-tank, a flatbed vessel used primarily during World War II, but also in the Korean and Vietnam wars, to transport troops and tanks).
The U.S. LST Association, which is made up of a group of approximately 10,000 veterans who served on LSTs during the wars, had been trying to find an LST to convert into a floating museum.
After years of searching, the Greek government said they were going to take the old LSTS the United States had given them out of service and would be happy to give one to The LST Ship Memorial, Inc., if the U.S. government approved.

She was reclassified MSO 443 on 7 February 1955.
The U.S. Navy completed factory testing and began in-water tests of an engineering development model (EDM) at a test site at Lake Travis, Texas, in FY86.
In FY87, the Lake Travis tests were completed and an SQQ-32(V) EDM was installed on board the minesweeper USS Fidelity (MSO-443) for contractor sea trials.

NOTE: #USS Hughes was listed in the report, but according to the ship's deck log was crossing the international date line enroute to Japan.
At 10:44 the ship made preparations for entering the port and anchored at 12:21 in Tokyo Bay.
#USS Woodcock (ATO-145) is listed in the report, but that ship spent World War II in Central and South American waters.

 USS Kendall C Campbell
During the first week of September she furnished ASW patrols for the Tokyo Occupation Force en route to Japan.
After escorting a group of 54 LST's from Tokyo to Manila, she returned to Yokosuka 16 October.
Kendall C. Campbell departed Japan 4 November, arriving San Pedro, Calif., 22 November.
