 The APA Film Project - The Bayfield (APA-33) Archives
USS Bayfield, first of a class of 16,100-ton attack transports, was built at San Francisco, California.
Constructed as a C3-S-A2 freighter under Maritime Commission contract, she was acquired by the Navy at the end of June 1943, placed in reduced commission and steamed via the Panama Canal to Brooklyn, New York, where she was converted to an amphibious warfare ship.
Her involvement with events in southeast Asia began with participation in Operation "Passage to Freedom" in August and September 1954, resuming in 1967 when she served as a floating barracks at Danang, South Vietnam, carried Marines to and from the combat zone and took part in landing operations.

That same year he entered the U.S. Navy where he received his boot camp training in San Diego, Calif. He served aboard the USS LST No. 1019 during World War II and was discharged in September of 1946.
He would later serve in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Wisconsin and was discharged in 1952.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S., in November of 1995, her parents and a brother in infancy.

Transferred to the USS NIMITZ (CVN-63) for their 9 month-world cruez, two months after cruiz finished I was so missing the sea life that I cross-decked to the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) for their 6 month deployment to the Med.

Commissioned USS LST-1157, 14 March 1953; RenamedUSS Terrell County(LST-1157), 1 July 1955; Decommissioned, 25 March 1971 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA., and transferred, on loan, to Greece under the Security Assistance Program; Renamed Inouse (L-104); Struck from the Naval Register, 1 November 1976; Sold outright to Greece in March 1977.
While I was aboard her for a little over a year, we spent most of our time taking Naval Reservists out for training during their 2 weeks of annual duty.
