  USS POLLUX AKS-2 and AKS-4
Shortly after reporting aboard the USS POLLUX he was promoted to CSK (SKC) because of his former military experience as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and his longshore experience.
Chuck was a FA on the POLLUX and retired in 1967 as a BTC.
George was a RMC on the AKS-4 and retired in 1968 as a RMCM.

 USS Bexar APA-237
USS Bexar (APA-237) embarked units of the 2nd Marines, at Morehead City, N.C., for their deployment to Malta and subsequent transfer to units of the 6th Fleet.
The USS Bexar (APA-237) operated in various ports between Japan and Korea rotating and landing troops, including those of the 5th Cavalry Division and the 45th Division.
The USS Bexar (APA-237) was in Pearl Harbor and joined in celebrating the admission of Hawaii as the 50th State in the Union.

 Design
The LST was designed to ground evenly (from bow to stern) on a beach with a slope of about one-foot for every fifty-feet (the design gradient).
The LSTs actually took more man-hours to build than the Liberty and Victory (cargo) ships, which were almost 5 times larger; about 10,600 tons deadweight to the LST’s 2,180 tons.
The LSTs were actually loaded for ocean passage to as much as 1,600 tons on the tank deck, and 300 tons on the main deck, and resulted in 33.3 tons per inch of immersion.

Was transfered for a short period in an emergency deployment to the USS Bordelon to be on the blockade of Cuba as a radioman, transfered back to the Luce afterwards.
I attended the funeral of President John F. Kennedy while in DC.My last duty was aboard the USS Salish out of Mayport Fla. We were the prime ship that fought the fires aboard the cruise ship Vi king Princess as she burned in the Carribean.
Subsequently, I was assigned to USS Indepen- dence CVA-62 at NOB Norfolk.

The LST 325 has not updated their web page for a while but I'm sure it is coming.
Our United States LST Members helped bring the LST-325 back from Greece and crewed it besides if it was not from you with your donations and the crew's determination it would have never made it.
(LST'S) In 1992 at a board meeting it was talked about to include all Amphibious Vessels and the Board decided to keep it just a LST Association because other groups had started and had their own Associations.

 USS LST Ship Memorial - Progress Report
Even though the 325 is my first LST experience, I had no doubt that what I was hearing could only be one thing, an operational tank deck blower.
Jennings, who is a WWII vet on board the LST 726, and I did what we could for Earl for a few days and had a wonderful time in doing so.
We also made a video of our exploits on the LST during our stay and, I assume, that can be borrowed from Earl as well.

Our training at Lido Beach was the introduction to the LST and its uses as a medical evacuation ship.
We and two other LSTs sailed from Brixham on the afternoon of 27 April to join five LSTs coming from Plymouth.
I often wonder if many "dead" victims were really in a state of hibernation, and what would have happened had we been able to immerse them in warm tubs.

Was then assigned to the USS Odax.Served aboard the Odax until early fall of 1952 and was trasferred to Bethesda Naval Hospital.Had back operation in late November and honorably discharged on March 3, 1953.
Transferred to the USS NIMITZ (CVN-63) for their 9 month-world cruez, two months after cruiz finished I was so missing the sea life that I cross-decked to the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) for their 6 month deployment to the Med.

Comments: My Papa served on the USS Dixie Ad-14 during the 1970's more toward the area of 1976.
My dad died in 1970 and wanting to learn of who he was and this seems to be a good place to begin my search.
Comments: I am the sister of George Di Ruzza who served on the USS Dixie and USS Prairie from 1950 to 1954.
