 Underwater Demolition Teams
Transferred to APD-34 USS Belknap while the Brooks was in for repairs and took place in the Philippine Luzon landings at Lingayen Gulf in January, 1945.
Survivors were transferred to USS Sands APD-13 and sent back to Pearl Harbor and from there they rotated to the Maui camp to run training for the new teams until May. Following that, all members were given a month's leave and told to reform at Fort Pierce in June.
USS Cook departed Japan on 18 October and UDT-20 was disembarked upon the return to San Diego on November 13.

 LST 473 Association and Reunion Information
Shipmates, Hutchins familymembers and friends of LST 473 gathered in Eagle Lake, Texas September 5-7, 2003 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the attack on LST 473 and the loss of Hutchins and 7 other shipmates.
Former crew members of two ships that heroically went to the aid of the stricken LST 473 immediately after she was hit were special guests at the ceremony.
The wreath was covered with white and red carnations with blue ribbons attached that bore, in gold letters, “USS LST 473” and the names and home states of each crew member killed in action.

On 13 March the ship was in the Empress Augusta Bay area where she bombarded enemy positions in the jungles east of the beachhead held by Allied forces
At first assigned to the outer destroyer screen, she later closed the Tinian beach to provide star shell illumination and fire support for troops ashore who were undergoing a heavy counterattack.
While in the Mindanao Sea [escorting a convoy composed of 23 LSTs, 15 LSMs, 9 LCTs, 2 YMSs, 1 PC, 1 APC, and 12 other escorts en route to he invasion of Palawan], on 19 February 1945, Renshaw was struck by a torpedo from an enemy submarine.

One plane over LST, one off our port beam, the DD is ahead of the LST and changing course to his left.
Whether these torpedoes were fired from the DD, the LST or whether they were dropped by a plane (I hadn't see the bomber for 20 minutes) I don't rightly know.

The USS BUSH participated in the initial invasion of the Admiralty Islands.
On Day 2, the USS BUSH and destroyer USS STOCKTON engaged in repeated bombardment and strafing of Japanese locations, inhibiting any effective counter attack and reducing potential American casualties.
