The Japanese submarine RO-112 is sunk by the submarine USS Batfish (SS-310) in the Philippines.
The destroyers USS Wilson (DD-408) and USS Laffey (DD-724) and the oiler USS Taluga are damaged by suicide plane, and the motor minesweeper YMS-331 is damaged by a suicide boat, all in the Okinawa area.
The battleship USS Colorado (BB-45) is damaged by an explosion, the destroyer USS Ammen (DD-527) by a horizontal bomber and the submarine chaser SC-737 by grounding, all in the Okinawa area.

USS MANNERT L. ; built by the Bath Iron Works, Bath ME., she was laid down on December 9, 1943, launched on April 23, 1944 and commissioned on July 4, 1944.
USS HUGH W. ; built by the Bethlehem Steel, San Pedro, Ca, she was laid down on February 6 1944, launched on July 16 1944 and commissioned on November 25, 1944.
U.S.S. An ALLEN M. class destroyer, she displaced 3,300 tons when full, was 376 feet 6 inches long, had 60,000 SHP, General Electric Geared Turbines powering 2 screws to a maximum speed of 32 knots.

The USS DeHaven (DD-727) was commissioned in March 1944 as the second destroyer to bear the name of Lieutenant Commander E. DeHaven, an early arctic explorer.
The Yankee Modelworks kit of USS DeHaven (DD-727), depicts the ship as she was in mid-1944 with the early style "British" bridge.

Clamagore arrived at Patriot's Point in April 1981, where she was docked as a museum ship along with the USS Yorktown (CV-10), USCGC Ingham (WHEC-35), and USS Laffey (DD-734).

The Sumner class, as originally constructed, was the next evolutionary step from the Fletcher class and reflected the increasing need for Anti-Aircraft Warfare defense.
