The 2007, 27th USS Fremont reunion is over and a great time was had in Niagara Falls New York.
I think the ship they used to film on was the USS Olmstead or one of her class.
The USS Fremont was decommissioned 3 September 1969.

Leyte joined Wisconsin (BB-64) on a good will cruise down the western seaboard of South America in the fall of 1946 before returning to the Caribbean18 November to resume shakedown operations.
Leyte returnedto Norfolk 24 August and after 2 weeks of preparation departed 6 Septemberto join TF 77 in the Far East to support United Nations Forces in Korea.
On 16 October 1953, at 1515, while still under conversion to an antisubmarinecarrier, Leyte suffered an explosion in her port catapult machinery room.Within minutes naval base and city fire trucks were on the scene.

USS Leyte, a 27,100-ton Ticonderoga class aircraft carrier built at Newport News, Virginia, was commissioned in April 1946.
Leyte had just returned from the last of those tours in August 1950 when she was quickly prepared for another, taking her to the other side of the World to augment Naval forces during the Korean War.
USS Leyte was decommissioned in May 1959, and simultaneously reclassified as an aircraft transport, with the new hull number AVT-10.

 USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55)
USS LEYTE GULF is one of the 27 TICONDEROGA class cruisers and got its name from that place in the Pacific where two battles between the American fleet and Japanese fleet were fought.
LEYTE GULF served in the Arabian Gulf in 1991 in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, where she launched Tomahawk cruise missiles against Iraq, and served as local Anti-Air Warfare Commander for a four Aircraft Carrier Battle Force.
USS LEYTE GULF changed homeport on July 30, 1997, from Mayport, FL, to Naval Station Norfolk, VA. The guided-missile cruiser came to Norfolk under a realignment plan that allowed Carrier Group Eight's two cruisers to be collocated, to improve maintenance and training efficiencies.

 Ormoc Bay, Leyte: USS Ward (APD-16) Action Report
The USS Ward (APD16) departed Leyte Gulf at 1330 6 December 1944 as part of The Ormoc Attack Group, Task Group 78.3, under command of Rear Admiral A.D. STRUBLE (CTG78.3) in the USS Hughes.
It is not known whether or not the guns of the USS Ward damaged the two bombers which crashed in the sea.
The damage control lockers on the USS Ward were loaded under the galley deck house on both the port and starboard sides.

USS Leyte, a 4611-ton internal combustion engine repair ship, was built at Baltimore, Maryland, under Maritime Commission contract as a "Liberty" type freighter.
USS Maui decommissioned at San Diego, California, at the end of August 1946 and was laid up there.
In June 1961 she was moved to the National Defense Reserve Fleet facility at Suisun Bay, California, and in September 1962 transferred to the Maritime Administration.

While some of the information about the ships in the battle group and their armament is classified, the Navy was able to provide a snapshot of the capacity of the force that departed the U.S. Wednesday.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt is an aircraft carrier that "provides a wide range of possible response for the National Command Authority." The carrier's mission in a time of war is "to operate and support aircraft attacks on enemies, protect friendly forces and engage in sustained independent operations of war," according to the Navy.
The maiden voyage of the Roosevelt was on December 30, 1988.

Here she patrolled during the Leyte landings and the decisive Battle for Leyte Gulf, sinking three cargo ships bound to reinforce Japanese troops fighting to keep the Philippines.

Leyte Gulf is to be the strike group’s air defense commander, a position formerly held by USS Gettysburg (CG 64).
While addressing the crew, Spicer said he expects Leyte Gulf to set the bar as the air defense commander.
It served in the Persian Gulf in 1991 in support of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and moved its homeport to Norfolk, Va., in 1997.

The Air Group aboard in Korea was the same Air Group that went to the Med with us so when we got in combat we were already a smoothly functioning team.
