USS Mindoro (CVE-120) was laid down by Todd-Pacific Shipyards, Inc., (A city in west central Washington on an arm of Puget Sound south of Seattle) Tacoma, (A state in northwestern United States on the Pacific) Washington, 2 January 1945; launched 27 June 1945; sponsored by Mrs.
Assigned to Carrier Division 14, she began carrier air training operations along the east coast, and in May she joined ships of the 8th Fleet for exercises in waters of the (The string of islands between North and South America; a popular resort area) West Indies.
Subsequently, she was disposed of in June 1960 and scrapped at (Formerly a Crown Colony on the coast of southern China in Guangdong province; leased by China to Britain in 1842 and returned in 1997; one of the world's leading commercial centers) Hong Kong later that year.

Three vessels of the United States Navy have been named USS Mindoro, the first as a name retained, and the other two after the island of Mindoro in the Philippines.
The first Mindoro was a gunboat in use in the Philippines from 1899 to 1911.
The second Mindoro (YAG-15) was a freighter purchased in 1942 and in service until 1945.

I had the opportunity to go aboard the Mindoro when she operated in the Korean conflict for a short stay, still using the Piston engine corsair for ground support of the troops.
I was transferred from USS Franklin D. Roosevelt where I served as an Aviation Boatswain Mate 2 Class.

The Maulers deployed on 28 August 1995 in USS AMERICA (CV 66) for the Joint Task Group (JTG) 95-3 deployment to the Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea and the Indian Ocean.While on deployment, the Maulers flew in United Nations missions DENY FLIGHT, SHARP GUARD, and DELIBERATE FORCE.
Following the decommissioning of USS AMERICA (CV 66), Carrier Air Wing ONE was assigned to the Atlantic Fleet Carrier USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73).
As of August 2003, VS Squadron has been with the USS Enterprise (CVN 65), currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of the global war on terrorism and is set to return in March 2004.

In 1926 he took command of the aircraft tender USS Wright with additional duties as Senior Aide on the Staff of Commander Air Squadrons, Atlantic Fleet, In January of 1927, he reported to the NAS Pensacola, Florida for flight training and was designated naval aviator 3368 in May of that year.
When USS S-4 was sunk in December of that year off Provincetown, however, he was again assigned to command of her salvage operations.
Upon completion he returned to his command of the USS Wright, and had a short cruise as Commander Aircraft Squadrons, Scouting Fleet, until 1928, when he went ashore as Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Aeronautics.
