		The Nova class design follows a conventional approach to traditional Federation starship design with an angular trowel-shaped saucer section, an engineering hull and two cigar-shaped warp nacelles are attached to the hull by pylons running aft.
		The Nova class is one of the first starships built with an Emergency Medical Hologram system; the shield charging cycle takes 45 seconds.
		After meeting the USS Voyager, the Equinox was destroyed by a warp core breach caused by the lifeforms.

	USS Nova
		The USS Nova's original warp core was replaced with a modified APD-01 core, originally designed for the Intrepid class starship.
		The USS Nova retains the two, six-person transporters and the two cargo transporters of the standard class.

		One unique feature of the Nova is its Waverider shuttle which is located in a special docking port on the dorsal side of the primary hull, similar to that of the Aeroshuttle on the Intrepid-class.

		Note that USS Merrimack and USS Monitor have adjacent registries as a reconciling gesture (although in such a case they should have properly named the other ship "USS Virginia" instead of USS Merrimack).
		The name for the USS Princeton of 1843 comes from Princeton, West Virginia, the hometown of Captain Robert F. Stockton, who first suggested her construction.
		But it seems the intended namesake was the USS Pueblo, a US Navy intelligence vessel that was hijacked by North Korean forces in 1968.

		The nacelles, compared to the Curry, are turned by 90 degrees, and they are attached to the saucer with a pair of larger and one of smaller pylons, the latter running into the impulse engine housing.
		Unfortunately the explanation that, for their hoax, the Klingons may have taken the ship name and number from an old Starfleet database (in which case it could be actually the Daedalus-class USS Carolina NCC-160) needs to be dismissed, as Uhura identified the Carolina as an actual ship being registered in the sector.
		The second theory is that an Excelsior-class ship could have been renamed to "USS Farragut", but considering Starfleet probably builds hundreds of new ships each year, especially during a war, this (probably unpopular) decision would not have been necessary.

		The classes were tough, and involved many long hours of study, but he made it and graduated in the top 10% of his class.
		During his tenure aboard the NOVA, both the original GALAXY class vessel and her SOLAR class replacement when the first was lost during the Second Battle of GAMMA, Mark eventually moved to become the Operations Officer, and then the Executive Officer under Captain Brooks.
		While it moved away from his primary focus of counseling, Mark was unable to refuse the rise through the ranks, and still helped out both the Medical and Counseling departments whenever they need assistance or extra bodies to help with the workload.

		I was finally on the USS Salem, an Intrepid Class starship, equipped with a cloaking device and all.
		There was Jem'Hadar, Cardassians, Four runabouts, shuttlecraft, One Warp Core, the Nebula-class USS Nova, the Intrepid-class USS Salem, and, of course, the USS Atlantis.
		The runabouts had their hands full attacking a single Jem'Hadar vessel, and the Nova was left battling one of each vessel, while my USS Atlantis kept a safe distance from the battle.

		The second ship of this class was seen 16 years into the future - USS Rhode Island, commanded by Captain Harry Kim.

		When the Borg threat receded, and design flaws discovered during the lead ship's shakedown cruise, the project was suspended (it would later be restarted with the outbreak of the Dominion War).
