  USN Ships--USS Whipple (Torpedo Boat Destroyer # 15)
USS Whipple, a 433-ton Truxtun class destroyer, was built at Sparrows Point, Maryland.
USS Whipple was named in honor of Continental Navy Captain Abraham Whipple (1733-1819).
In addition, the original caption for Photo # NH 53886 states that it was taken from USS Whipple on 10 May 1918.

  USS Parsons (DD-949) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parsons continued her training and service operations alternately with First Fleet and Seventh Fleet until she was decommissioned at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard on 19 January 1966.
Parsons was one of four Forrest Sherman-class destroyers selected for conversion from all-gun destroyers to the new Decatur class of guided missile destroyer.
Parsons was assigned hull classification symbol DDG-33 on 15 March 1967, recommissioned 3 November 1967, and assigned to the Cruiser-Destroyer Force, Pacific Fleet.

Was transfered for a short period in an emergency deployment to the USS Bordelon to be on the blockade of Cuba as a radioman, transfered back to the Luce afterwards.
I attended the funeral of President John F. Kennedy while in DC.My last duty was aboard the USS Salish out of Mayport Fla. We were the prime ship that fought the fires aboard the cruise ship Vi king Princess as she burned in the Carribean.
Subsequently, I was assigned to USS Indepen- dence CVA-62 at NOB Norfolk.

 Reunio 2003 in New Orleans
Some of the tours were the National D-Day Museum, a visit to the USS Kidd DD-661, a WWII Fletcher class destroyer, in nearby Baton Rouge, and a Creole dinner aboard a sternwheel steamboat on the Mississippi.
Edwina Morton Thirsher, daughter of CDR Dudley "Mush" Morton, captain of the sub USS Wahoo SS 238 which was lost in 1943.
Edwina was just 16 in 1959 when she Christened and launched the USS Morton DD 948 named for her father.

I was privelidge to be on USS Inchon for the 1978 Goodwill cruise, with presidential support for Jimmy Carter.
Was aboard the USS Austin until she ran into another ship and smashed her bow in.
I arrived on the USS INCHON LPH-12 in 1981 while the ship was in GETMO for REFTRAY, I was assigned to V-1 Division working the flight deck, with chuck and chains, was later put in crash and salvage.

 USN Ships--USS Milwaukee (Cruiser # 21)
After her crew was removed and some equipment and stores were brought ashore, USS Milwaukee was formally decommissioned in early March 1917.
Her hull, by now further stripped by salvors and broken in two by the power of the Pacific coast surf, was sold in August 1919.
The cruiser moored in the stream at right is either USS Cincinnati (Cruiser # 7) or USS Raleigh (Cruiser # 8), both of which were placed out of commission at Mare Island in October 1907.

List duty stations I had boot camp in San Diego, Calif. and to A school in Vallejo, Calif. I was them stationed on the USS Walke, DD723 from late 1964 until early 1968 and we made three cruises to Westpac.
I thought I would make it to this year's reunion since the trip was originally scheduled for the week of 26 August but Bath Iron Works and SupShip, Bath decided that the week of 16 September was better since the ship builder would be nearer to completion.

He completed flight training in September of 1954 and was designated a Naval Aviator and also a Qualified Helicopter Pilot.
LCDR CAMPBELL was then ordered to Fighter Squadron 114 and served with this squadron aboard USS ESSEX (CVA-9).
