Patrick Henry (May 29, 1736 – June 6, 1799) was a prominent figure in the American Revolution, known and remembered primarily for his stirring oratory.
Henry is perhaps best known for the speech he made in the House of Burgesses on March 23, 1775, urging that legislature to take military action against the encroaching British military force.
In the later years of his life, Henry was a key figure in a major land speculation scandal involving the Yazoo lands in what was then the western territory of Georgia.

USS Patrick Henry (SSBN/SSN-599), christened after a American Revolutionary War figure by the same name, was a George Washington-class fleet ballistic missile submarine of the United States Navy.
Manned alternately by two crews, Blue and Gold, like all US Navy ballistic missile submarines, to maximize her submerged operations, Patrick Henry underwent shakedown with the Blue crew until 16 September 1960, when the Gold crew took over.
Patrick Henry conducted 17 deterrent patrols from Holy Loch until December 1964 when she returned to Electric Boat.

Patrick Henry (May 29, 1736–June 6, 1799) was a prominent figure in the American Revolution.
Trained as an attorney, and noted for his heated oratorical skills, this Virginian first made a name for himself in a case dubbed the "Parson's Cause " (1763) which was an argument on whether the price of tobacco paid to clergy for their services should be set by the colonial government or by the Crown.
During the Revolution, Henry led a military force in defense of Virginia, chiefly in defense of some disputed gunpowder coveted by the British.

 Confederate Ships--CSS Patrick Henry
Renamed Patrick Henry (though still commonly referred to as Yorktown), she was converted to a warship and attached to the James River Squadron under Commander John Randolph Tucker.
During the battle of 8 March 1862, in which CSS Virginia destroyed the Federal warships Cumberland and Congress, Patrick Henry attempted to take the latter's surrender but was fired upon by shore batteries, suffered four crewmen killed and had to be towed out of action.
Patrick Henry was also present during some of Virginia's other actions and, in a daring night operation on 5 May 1862, helped remove Confederate property from the Norfolk Navy Yard before it was abandoned to the Federals.

This is the USS Thresher, SSN 593, tragically lost in an implosion accident in 1963, carrying 16 officers, 96 enlisted men and 17 civilian technicians to their final resting place in 8500 feet of water.
This is the USS Permit, SSN 594 the first of a class by default; the Thresher was the actual beginning of the line, but with her sinking, the designation went to the next boat.

The USS George Washington (SSBN-598) resumed from patrol on 21 January 1961, coming alongside the tender USS Proteus (AS-19) at New London, Connecticut.

Harm goes to the Patrick Henry to speak with the Captain who tells him he will not get the reports he is asking for and has them escorted off the ship.
She is found innocent of the charges against her and outside Harm tells the captain that he would like to work with him again if he ever has a chance and the Captain agrees that it would be good to work together again.

 Admiral Harold E. Shear
Shear graduated from high school in 1937 and entered the U.S. Naval Academy in 1938, a member of the class that graduated five months early because of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
His first job was on the destroyer USS Stack, but he soon transferred to the submarine fleet.
Shear served aboard submarines for 25 years, commanding the diesel-powered submarine Becuna and the nuclear ballistic missile submarine Patrick Henry, as well as the Navy's first fast combat-support ship, the Sacramento, during the Vietnam War.
