 USS Swordfish (SS-193) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
USS Swordfish (SS-193), a Sargo-class submarine, was the first submarine of the United States Navy named for the swordfish, a large fish with a long, swordlike beak and a high dorsal fin.
On 27 January, she fired two torpedoes at a converted salvage vessel which broke in half and sank.
Her keel was laid down on 27 October 1937 by the Mare Island Naval Shipyard of Vallejo, California.

 USS S-27 - Gallant Lady of the Past
Based at the submarine base in Connecticut through 1924, USS S-27 (SS-132) was transferred to the Pacific in 1925; and, after exercises in the Hawaiian Islands during the spring of that year, the submarine arrived at her new homeport, San Diego in California, in June of 1925.

USS S-27 (SS-132) was a S-class submarine of the United States Navy.
On 16 June 1939, she sailed east; and, on 27 June, she arrived at San Diego and resumed operations off the southern California coast.
Her construction was authorized in March 1917, and her keel was laid down on 11 April 1919 by the Fore River Plant, Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, Quincy, Massachusetts.

After a short stay, a couple of liberties and a visit to the USS WEST VIRGINIA which was undergoing repairs for damage received at Pearl Harbor 7 December, we sailed out of there through Puget Sound, very pretty.
The war went on another three or more years, five patrols on the USS FINBACK sinking one passenger liner, eight freighters, one gunboat, one passenger/cargo vessel, one submarine chaser and one oil tanker.

The "Polynesian" was built by R.Steele & Co, Greenock in 1872 for the Montreal Ocean SS Co. She was a 3,983 gross ton ship, length 400ft x beam 42.5ft, straight stem, one funnel, three masts (rigged for sail), iron construction, single screw and a speed of 13 knots.
The SS Polaris sailing out of Hanko, Finland, was the main routing for Finnish emigrants on their way to North America.
SS Patricia, built by A. Vulcan, of Stettin, for the Hamburg American Line, and launched on 20 February 1899.
