USS Saratoga (CV-60) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
USS Saratoga (CVB-60/CVA-60/CV-60), the fifth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the American Revolutionary War Battle of Saratoga, was a Forrestal-class supercarrier.
Saratoga returned to Mayport and the Florida coast from 22 January until 11 June 1970 when she again sailed for duty with the Sixth Fleet.
On one occasion during the war, a missile, possibly a Scud, was launched in the general direction of the Saratoga in the Red Sea, but it was either unguided, or launched on a hunch, as it was determined early in it's flight path it would miss by more than 100 nautical miles.
