USS Toucey (DD-282) was a Clemson-class destroyer in the United States Navy following World War I.
Toucey was laid down on 26 April 1919 at Squantum, Massachusetts, by the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation; launched on 5 September 1919; sponsored by Miss Elizabeth Alden Robinson; and commissioned at Boston, Massachusetts on 9 December 1919, Commander Reuben B. Coffey in command.
Saginaw was launched as Toucey, but her name was changed prior to commissioning at the request of her namesake.

Melvin was laid down 15 September 1920 at the Union Plant, Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, San Francisco, California; launched 11 April 1921; sponsored by Miss Laura L. McKinistry; and commissioned 31 May 1921, Lieutenant Commander Charles E. Rosendahl in command.
Struck from the Naval Vessel Register 3 November 1930, her materials were sold in the course of the next 2 years.

He was elected to the U.S. Senate for the term commencing March 4, 1851, and served from May 12, 1852, to March 3, 1857, having that year declined to be a candidate for reelection.
James Buchanan, who Toucey had served with in the Polk administration, appointed him U.S. Secretary of the Navy in his Cabinet in 1857 as a sop to the Pierce faction as well as to represent New England in the Cabinet.
Toucey was then replaced by one of his chief rivals in Connecticut, Gideon Welles.
