  UTStarcom Commences Noteholder Consent Solicitation
UTStarcom is seeking consents to proposed amendments of certain provisions of the indenture pursuant to which the notes were issued and a waiver of rights to pursue remedies available under the indenture with respect to certain defaults thereunder.
UTStarcom believes that the notice of default is invalid and without merit, in part because the indenture does not specify a time period within which UTStarcom must file its report with the SEC.
UTStarcom cautions that these statements involve risks and uncertainties and other factors that may cause results to differ materially from those anticipated at the time such statements are made.

UTstarcom is awaiting the official granting of the licence from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said an official with UTstarcom, who asked not be named.
UTstarcom may disclose details of its strategy for China's mobile phone market after the NDRC officially announces the awarding of the licence, the official said.
UTstarcom has been successful in recent years by betting on a system called PHS, or Xiaolingtong in China, which is a mobile phone system limited to cities.

UTStarcom shares have lost more than half their value of the past year as the company has reported a number of earnings shortfalls and set plans to cut more than a thousand jobs.
UTStarcom guided toward a third-quarter loss of 35 cents to 40 cents a share on revenue of $670 million.
UTStarcom said its projections included $5 million to $10 million worth of restructuring charges aimed at covering remaining job-cut costs.

What was supposed to be an IPTV coup for UTStarcom Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI - message board) has turned into a disaster, at least for one quarter, and a 22 percent drop in stock value, at least for one day.
Yesterday, UTStarcom announced its earnings for the third quarter, which ended Sept. 30, will be missing $40 million expected from Softbank BB Corp.
UTStarcom now says third-quarter revenues will be $620 million to $640 million compared to the previously forecast $660 million to $680 million.
