Charge (heraldry) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Geological and geographic charges include the mountain (which must be distinguished from the oft-occurring "mount in base vert") and volcano, in addition to the "range of mountains", such as appear in the arms of the Candian province of Alberta and the U.S. State of Colorado.
The charges are either in one or more of the tinctures, or umbrated, supposedly represented as a shadow, though the representation is closest to an outline alone (an example of similar terminology applied to the "shadows" of a charge are the arms of Risoul, Hautes Alpes, France).
Most armorial achievements include charges, but a few only have a plain tincture (what would be called "colour" in layman's terms, though the word has a different meaning in heraldry) without any device, or a simple division or pattern of the field.

Shaped charge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A shaped charge is an explosive charge shaped to focus the effect of the released energy.
Shaped charges are frequently used as warheads in anti-tank missiles (guided and unguided) and also gun fired projectiles (spun and unspun), rifle grenades, mines, bomblets, torpedoes and various types of air/land/sea launched guided missiles.
The spacing between the shaped charge and its target is critical, as there is an optimum standoff distance to achieve the deepest penetration.

 Explosives
The M-2A3 shaped charge is 50/50 pentolite explosive, which can be set off by small arms fire; the M-2A4 is based on Composition B plastic explosive and is not sensitive to small arms hits, though it does have a very small (50-gram) pentolite booster.
It also means that a second demolition charge may be used immediately after detonation of the M-2 shaped charge, because the resultant glass slug left in the hole cools almost immediately and can be removed to place the second charge.
This charge requires a hole large enough for the can (which is 21 centimeters wide and 43.2 centimeters long) to be bored prior to the use of the charge; the charge is placed in the hole.

 PAGE MASTER
In both the hand-launched and rifle- or rocket-propelled weapons, the shaped charge warhead is a mass of a highly brisant explosive formed around a hollow metal liner, usually copper or aluminum.
The shaped charge effect, variously known as the hollow charge effect, the cavity effect, or the Munroe Effect, dates to the 1880s Naval Torpedo Station, Newport, Rhode Island.
The standoff distance, and hence the effectiveness of the shaped charge, also depends upon the terminal velocity of the warhead, the speed at which it strikes the target.

Shaped charge carrier assembly method - Patent 4915029
A deformable retaining means is integrally formed with the thin wall carrier adjacent a periphery of the charge opening, for initially allowing the shaped charge to be freely received in the charge opening, and for subsequently retaining the shaped charge in the charge opening upon deformation of the deformable retaining means.
The charge opening 36A initially has a diametrical clearance 84 between the first and second deformable retaining means 80 and 82, sufficiently large that the generally cylindrical outer surface 52 of shaped charge 38A may be freely received therebetween.
The deformable retaining device allows the shaped charge to initially be freely received in the charge opening, but subsequently retains the shaped charge in the charge opening upon deformation of the deformable retaining device.

 SWO: House Rules: Shaped Charges
A shaped charge is, for lack of a better definition, a formed piece of explosive material that is used for cutting through structural material, usually doors, walls and armor.
When an explosive is placed, like a shaped charge, the barrier's normal rating is used to resist the damage.
The shape of the charge is usually made up of a metal frame or container that is designed to direct the force of the blast in a single direction, either in a plane or in a straight line, resulting in a cutting effect.

 Curved needlepoint canvas
A mushroom shaped needlepoint canvas is formed as a hollow curved shell of perforated flexible plastic material, the canvas having a generally oval head part and a tapered stem or body part.
Another element to be added to the basic mushroom shape is a full disk of perforated sheet situated in a horizontal plane relative to the upstanding mushroom, with corresponding perforations for ease of attaching to the upstanding mushroom and having diameter corresponding to that of the base at whatever elevation it engaged the base.
This canvas is readily modifiable by shortening the bottom of the body part, attaching limbs as arms and legs, and joining pairs of canvases to form enclosed ellipsoidal shapes atop an enclosed truncated cone base.

Ilya Bolotowsky Biography, Activities and Lesson Plans
Shaped canvases have been around for a long time, from the pointed Medieval triptychs to the long narrow paintings of Pollock in the 1950s, but in modern painting there has been surprisingly little experiment with the actual shape of the painting until recent times.
Shaped canvas painting emerged as an outgrowth of Hard Edge during the 60s and 70s.
His continued exploration of the unusual canvas shapes -- diamond-shaped and tondo (round) -- combined with his greater range of colors has led to a highly distinctive and personal imagery.

JK Hudson's Art Portfolio-D. Rockburne Paper
Rockburne plays with the canvas shape more as an optical illusion as in Narcissus (1984), where she takes two L-shaped canvases and attaches them so that one is horizontal and the other is set on the diagonal over the first.
She then paints in the outline of the lower canvas on the upper canvas in a hard-edge line.
With a return to paint and canvas, Rockburne approaches Post-Painterly Abstraction as she introduces luxurious color and brushwork into her non-objective paintings, while still maintaining her systematic processes.

Livermore National Lab graphic -- shaped explosive charge
Often, the code that GLO directs is the two-dimensional hydrodynamic code, CALE (C-language arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian), in which is embedded a number of parameters defining the overall size and geometry of the shaped charge.
The CALE calculations result in a definition of the geometry of the jet of metal formed when the cone of a particular shaped-charge configuration is compressed by the explosive charge.
GLO is repeatedly linked to the physics codes and adjusts the shaped-charge design until it obtains as close a match as possible to the specified hole profile.
