Levi Stewart Udall was the Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court 1951-53 and 1957-59.
Nicholas Udall was the grandson of Andrew Kimball, great-grandson of Heber C. Kimball and Edwin Dilworth Woolley, and cousin of varying degree to several other politicians in that family.

Udall became increasingly active in public service, being elected to the School Board of Amphitheater Public Schools (District 10) in Tucson in June 1951.
Stewart Udall served as U.S. Representative from Arizona from 1955 to 1961 and then as Secretary of the Interior under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson from 1961 to 1969.
Stewart's son Tom Udall, and nephew Mark Udall, are currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Udall’s destruction had been the culmination of three days of severe weather affecting Americans from Amarillo, Tex., to Buffalo, N.Y. The weather spawned 110 tornadoes, one of which snatched a B-16 bomber from the sky, killing its 15-man crew.

David King Udall was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1851 to English immigrant Mormon parents, who moved to Utah with young David the next year.
Ida Hunt was born in the back of a covered wagon in 1858 in Hamilton's Fort, Utah, as her family journeyed back from California to help defend the church in the "Mormon War." Ida's grandparents had converted to Mormonism as young adults, and her parents had been missionaries in several Pacific islands.
Following his marriage to Ida Hunt, David Udall's family was placed under additional stress by reactions among their predominantly Hispanic and Catholic neighbors, who resented the Mormons at St. John's as newcomers occupying land that was not rightfully theirs.

Udall started out studying accounting at the University of Arizona, but couldn't imagine spending his life crunching numbers.
But in those days, Udall says, all it took to get a law degree was a three-year investment in classes - no test - and a $35 enrollment fee.
