 [AMHA] - Changing Exhibits
The village of Uelen's reputation for carving dates back to when American traders and whalers visited the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Uelen lies close to Cape Dezhnev, the easternmost point of Asia, and is on the Chukotsk Peninsula coast opposite the Seward Peninsula.
The idea behind the seminar was not to replace Uelen's traditional art but to expand it by offering artists an additional medium that would reach a much wider audience.
