The economy of Uganda, which was devastated during the Idi Amin regime of the 1970s and the subsequent civil war, made a significant comeback beginning in the mid-1980s, when economic reforms aimed at dampening inflation and boosting production and export earnings were undertaken.
Uganda is governed by a president, who is elected by popular vote for a five-year term.
Uganda’s forces were largely withdrawn from Congo by the end of 2002, but there was fighting in 2003 between the remaining Ugandan forces and Congolese rebels allied with Rwanda shortly before the last Ugandan troops withdrew.

Korea’s proposed 15 bis addressing women with disabilities should be carefully considered, as there is a danger that in disaggregating the groups of PWD we may weaken the protections that exist in other bodies of international law.

New Zealand reaffirmed its proposals from AHC3, and also supported the EU in moving the first sentence of 12(1) to the Preamble, and deleting 12(3) which is repetitive of 12(1).
It supports the EU proposed 12(3)(bis), recognizing that forced interventions are unlawful, as well as Mexico’s proposal for the end of the article.
It does not support Jordan’s proposal to include “and their families,” as this would widen the scope of coverage to other family members who may not have a disability.

The Uganda Program was finally rejected by the Zionist movement at the Seventh Zionist Congress in 1905, but Nahum Syrkin and Israel Zangwill called an alternative conference to continue the plan of the Uganda scheme.
After the rejection of the Uganda scheme on the grounds of impracticability by the British, Zangwill turned his attention to settlement in Canada and Australia.

In Uganda, the 48-page paper has already been received at district level and was distributed to more than 1,500 delegates at the first Movement national conference in Kampala on July 13-17.
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania were under the East African Community which broke up in 1977 because of ideological differences between the leaders of the day.

Therefore, civic education is the key strategy in the proposed MS activities in Sudan as it is in Uganda.
The proposal we have forwarded to Danida is based on expanding the activities of existing MS partners and structures and contacts with Sudanese in Denmark.

Ugandan representatives have met with LRA negotiators in the Sudanese town of Juba (south Sudan) and a new round of talks began in Juba on July 14, with South Sudan's vice-president, Dr. Riek Machar, serving as chief mediator for the talks.
Uganda has demanded that the LRA cease "all forms of terrorism" and stop "all forms of hostilities." The government also says the LRA must "dissolve itself" and turn in its weapons.
Uganda also has said that Congo lets the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF—another anti-Museveni group) use Congolese territory as a base area.

Kinshasa last year rejected a proposal by Uganda to redeploy its troops in DRC to hunt down the LRA rebels as well as other Ugandan rebels based there.
Uganda invaded DR Congo in 1998 to root out rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces who were based in the east of the country.
The Congolese are reluctant to have foreign troops re-enter their country after Uganda and Rwanda's incursion led to a drawn out war involving six countries and left armed militias operating in large parts of the country.

Reports over the weekend showed that Uganda was bound to lose its share due to its reluctance to take action on the mismanagement of the previous allocations by a November 15 deadline.
Health minister Dr. Stephen Malinga on Saturday said he was travelling to the Fund’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in an apparent attempt to salvage Uganda’s share.

Uganda's government is to put fresh peace proposals to Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels.
Chief negotiator Betty Bigombe told the BBC the proposals would be handed to the LRA on Wednesday, but gave no details of what they would contain.
On Tuesday the Ugandan military re-occupied a ceasefire zone between itself and the LRA, saying it wanted to prevent rebel attacks on civilians.
